8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  -Purvalicious

9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl

1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW?

2. What are you looking forward to this week?

3. Monday confession?

4. My cycles have been 28 days long the last 3 cycles. SRM told me to test 14 days after IUI (our 1st one), but that would be day 31. I took an HCG trigger shot on day 15 and got a +OPK day 16. When would you test? We're having a party on day 30, so I wouldn't want to test that day. ?gakester8

Re: PG & TTC Check-In 1/23/12

  • Pregnant Questions

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?

37w4d today! And LO dropped over the weekend, woohoo!

New aches/pains? Not so much... but man have I started itching. O_x I have a bit of a rash with it, too; looking forward to having my OB take a look at it. I suspect that it's either PUPPP or prurigo of pregnancy. Whee.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?

Thursday! Our last one got snowed out, so this one will have our first internal, along with a discussion of the birth plan, and talking about this silly rash.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week?

My OB appointment, lol. And putting more things together for the nursery!

    4. Monday confession?

    Nothing interesting, sadly.

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC

We got the stroller before we officially started TTC, got one car seat from DH's company (employee benefit) in late November/early December (so, early 3rd tri), got the other car seat from family for Christmas, and haven't gotten the crib yet. (We got the Pack'n'Play in probably October, though.)

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81

I used to, earlier in pregnancy! A lot, even. These days... Not so much, hahaha.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89

I did, because I wanted to hear the HB before they'd try it at the OB's office, haha. I've found it pretty reassuring on multiple occasions since then; it was a good investment for me.

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl

No, but we're having the LO see the same family doctor that DH and I (when not PG) both do... So, alternately, you could say we've been 'interviewing' her for the past 6yrs or so.

    11. Questions for next week?

How far out are you scheduling your OB/MW appointments ahead of time? Just to 40wks, or are you scheduling them to 41 or 42 and planning to cancel 'em if need-be?

***When appropriate, please try to answer the TTC questions as it gives the ladies some insight as well!***

    TTCing Questions

?gakester8

I got my BFP right before a party we threw on Memorial Day, so... I don't think I'd let the party stop me from testing, assuming I had enough HPTs on hand. But if you'd prefer not to, that's perfectly reasonable... In that case, assuming I had plenty of HPTs laying around, I'd probably try the day before the party and the day after.

    5. Do you do temps? ?newmommy74

I did! Two years of TTA using the Fertility Awareness Method, and then used it when we started TTC, too. I found it very effective for both uses. There's no point in temping during pregnancy, though, so I'm not bothering until we're post-partum and getting enough sleep in a row to make temping worthwhile.

    Pregnant Questions

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?  Week 12, went to the clinic yesterday for a possible UTI, they have me on meds but aren't totally sure I have on.  I have to wait for them to call me back.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Tomorrow, I should get to hear the heartbeat!

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? hearing the heartbeat.

    4. Monday confession?

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC We waited until after the shower just to be sure, family did end up buying a few big items for us. We had it all done a month before he arrived.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81Not yet.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 I'm not buying one, once a month is enough peace of mind for me!

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  -Purvalicious You're own pads, (Hospital ones suck), a robe, socks, toiletries..

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl We didn't, we just picked one. But if I didn't like one I would just find a new one.

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?  -TacticalTurtleneck  I'm 12 weeks and I look ridiculous.  I need Maternity clothes BAD.

  • 1. What week are you in? - Approaching 40! Officially 39w5d.

Any new aches or pains? - My LO started tweaking my sciatica a couple of days ago. Ouch!

    2. When is your next appointment? - I had one this morning.

Will anything special happen at that appointment? - If my LO doesn't come before next Thursday (2/2), I'll be induced at my next appt!

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? - Being on baby watch and hoping my LO decides to come out on her own!

    4. Monday confession? - Even though it's totally an OWT that the caffeine and stuff in chocolate will help induce labor, that still didn't stop me from eating an entire serving of chocolate ganache all by myself yesterday lol.

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? - The week after Christmas. Cragislist is a beautiful thing. We got most of our big things for less than $300 combined.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? - I totally did up until about 37 weeks. Especially during the 2nd tri, I would have to remind myself that I was pregnant. Now that my LO has dropped, I'm constantly aware of her.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? - We did not. We might for future LO's

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? - We haven't interviewed any pediatricians yet. Our hospital is concerned that we don't have one picked yet, so we may need to do that soon. I have no idea how to go about it though! =(

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?

5 weeks, nothing new and still feeling good for the time being.  I had awful morning sickness last time but I'm hoping to avoid it this go round.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?

    Still haven't made it yet.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week?

Hopefully getting my insurance all straightened out so I can make a first visit appointment.

    4. Monday confession?

Not a confession, exactly, but I am so ready to leave my house today!  I've been a snowbound prisoner.

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC

Most of our big stuff was gifts, we chose what we wanted after our gender u/s and will probably do the same now.  I wanted the basics by 30 weeks at least, just in case.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81

Oh totally.  But I am also so early on that anything can still happen.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89

I did, I got one for $5 at the last Bumps and Babies sale- for that price it was a no brainer even if I wasn't planning on using it for a while.  If you can find a reasonably priced one I say go for it.  I didn't have one for my first and I wished I had.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  -Purvalicious

Going home clothes (mom and baby), slippers/flip flops, phone and charger, toiletries for mom and baby (our hospital used J&J which I am opposed to because of the chemicals), diapers (again, I was opposed to the Pampers, so I brought my own paper and cloth diapers), blanket/swaddler(s) for cute hospital pictures, snacks, camera/video camera (with extra batteries/charger.)

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl

We did, although we only interviewed one since we clicked with her right away.  I got referrals from other Bumpies and called to see if she would meet with us for 10-15 minutes to discuss her philosophies and practice policies.

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?  -TacticalTurtleneck

    :)

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81--Sometimes, I really have to look down or look in a mirror to see that I am pregnant.  But mostly, I feel it.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89-No, I normally feel flutters or kicks at this point.  This would have driven me crazy.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  -Purvalicious--I had a maternity nursing gown and robe that I got from Motherhood Maternity--it looked better than the hospital gowns.  I really wished I had packed shampoo and conditioner.

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl-I did not interview our pediatrician.  I just set up a 1st appointment to take in our son after he came home.  And we lucked out in that we like our pediatrician.

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?  -TacticalTurtleneck--2nd trimester

    Pregnant Questions

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Week 37. The only pain I have is due to pants that are too tight! Sleeping is also getting difficult.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Wednesday. I have the strepp b test. It was cancelled last week due to snow.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? Being 'ready'. We have everything we thought was really necessary to survivie with the baby now. Everything else is gravy.

    4. Monday confession? I snuck in a McDonalds meal yesterday when I was on a car trip. DH will never know that I have done this from time to time- he generally sees only the healthy eating. :-)

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC We started buying things around 16-20 weeks so that I'd have time to put it together.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 No- my SIL did, but I am fine with the US and heartbeat listening that we do in the routine appointments. I think I'd worry too much if I had equipment of my own.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag? I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't. -Purvalicious

I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl We did. I'm glad we opted for that route since the one we were sure we'd go with ended up being someone we decided against. In the end we are now leaning towards our midwife (she is also an ND).

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Week 5. Morning sickness has begun in the last few days. It's been mild for the most part. There have only been 2 times I felt like I was going to throw up. I've been keeping food in my stomach and drinking lots of water which, so far has kept it bearable.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? Friday is my first appointment. All the regular 1st appointment stuff will happen. I'm guessing I'm too early for the first ultra sound but we'll see.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? My first appointment.

    4. Monday confession? I'm THRILLED to be back at work after a week of being snowed in.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 I don't plan on it right now.

  • We found out we are having a girl!!!

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains?

Week 21. Just my leg falling alseep if I stay on one side too long. Otherwise, I'm pretty good.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?

    Just a monthly check-in on Feb 7th.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week?

For this week to be over.... I hate Mondays.

    4. Monday confession?

    I hate Mondays?

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC

I plan on buying my crib and furniture next month. I'll put money to the side for my stroller and car seat if no one buys it for the baby shower. I plan on buying most items myself, I don't like depending on others to get stuff I need or want.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81

I do. Sometimes I just don't think about it.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89

I don't plan to. I just read reviews online and talk to other moms. If I don't like the dr or place after a couple visits, then I will look again.

  • 1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Wk. 22, tons of back pain this week.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? Honestly not much.  Monday is starting out really crappy.

    4. Monday confession? I've got nothing good.

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. We purchased items all throughout the pregnancy.  I think we bought her dresser/changing table when I was like 8 wks along because we found it on sale.  After that, we basically just purchased something every month to spread out the cost.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? I had this with my first pregnancy more because I didn't have as much m/s.  But the weeks between m/s subsiding and feeling the baby move/kick were kind of weird.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) Nope, didn't and wouldn't. I actually like that at my appts. when DH and I get to hear the heartbeat it is just us and our baby and we don't have to share that with anyone yet.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  I should really know this...and I'm having a hard time remembering what I brought last time and what I'll need/use this time.

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. We didn't.  We just chose one.  You can always switch down the road if you don't like the one you start with.

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?  With Lucy, I made it to 20 wks. before I broke down and bought maternity pants.  This time, I was wearing them by 10 wks.  I think.  I'm a lot bigger this time around.

  • Pregnant Questions

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? - 26 weeks. I had a massive calf cramp the other morning and my leg has been sore ever since

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? - 2/7. Glucose testing. Ugh.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? - DH finishing painting the dresser so we can start decorating the room!

    4. Monday confession? - All I've eaten today was a cookie. And now I'm sitting on the couch watching my child eat goldfish off the floor while I watch TV.

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC - We bought our travel system at around 12 weeks last time because we found an awesome deal on the one we wanted, my mom ordered our crib for us both times and we had them by 20 weeks both times, we didn't really get anything big from our shower so we bought it ourselves by around 30 weeks

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81 - I don't really wonder if I'm still pregnant, I just wake up and forget I'm pregnant.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 - I bought one in the very beginning last time. It was fun getting to hear the HB before I was feeling movement. I used it way more the 1st time than I did this time.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag? I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't. -Purvalicious - Comfy clothes to wear home, going home outfit for baby, bare essentials for toiletries, skip all the books and stuff you think you'll be using to occupy your time because you won't use them.

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl - I didn't interview them. I knew which practice I wanted to use so I decided that I would go with whichever one came to see us in the hospital as long as I liked them otherwise I would pick someone else in the practice and go with them. But I liked the doctor we saw so we stuck with him.

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby? -TacticalTurtleneck - Ugh. I am HUGE this time around. I seriously look as big as I did at 40 weeks with Jake.

  • Pregnant Questions

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? 36 this week. Lots of contrax, baby seems lower daily but not much more space to move to.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? NST today, OB on Friday.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? Getting back to a normal schedule, playdates and school.

    4. Monday confession?

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC  Once you know what you want keep an eye out for sales/year end clearance.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81 Not any more, but earlier yes, daily.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 With #1 I tape recorded it acouple times to share with family/dh when he couldn't come.  With #2 I borrowed a friends doppler so M could play with it; find his hb, find mine, find babies.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag? I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't. -Purvalicious This is what I packed; Travel size toilitries, pj pants, nursing tank, socks, going home outfit for me, outfit for baby, snacks for D, longsleeve onsie, sleepsack, warm hat for baby. I think that was it. Not much, hospital will have all "supplies" you need, and extra things if you forget.

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl  With M, I went with my old pediatrician since she was still practicing. We have since moved to a different one we saw a lot on same day appointments, and worked more days in office.

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby? -TacticalTurtleneck  With #2 I think around 13ish weeks, depending on what I was trying to wear.

  • TTCing Questions

    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW?

    CD5, so waiting to O.

    2. What are you looking forward to this week?

Is it too early to say the weekend?

    3. Monday confession?

I got DH a remote control thermostat for his birthday. This is really so I can turn up the heat once he falls asleep. It's the least romantic gift I have even purchased for him.

?gakester8

I never made it to 14dpIUI. I always tested out my trigger, so I knew when it was out of my system. Then I would test early because I always have a stash of cheap HPTs at home and I'm impatient like that. If you don't test out your trigger, you probably want to wait until d14 to make sure a positive is a true positive, since the HCG can stay in your system for up to 14 days, and could give a false positive if you test too early.

    5. Do you do temps? ?newmommy74

Not anymore. I did early on, to make sure I was O'ing when I thought I was. I was, and I get really clear positives with the OPKs, so I stopped temping and just use OPKs now.

If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC I think I was like 3 months pregnant when I bought the crib (It took 12 weeks to get). Other than that I didn't really buy anything else. This time around we haven't bought anything.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 I bought one with this pregnancy and it is fun for my parents to hear the heartbeat. I don't use it anymore but I did in the first tri.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  -Purvalicious Shampoo, conditioner, we watched a couple of dvds while at the hospital in between diapers and feedings. I had dh run home and get me comfy clothes to wear and an outfit for dd but other than that I didn't bring anything else. I'm going to take makeup this time!

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? My former boss' retirement party. He was a great boss and I'm excited to celebrate with him and see a bunch of old co-workers.

    3. Monday confession?

Most people in my office waste precious time by talking with each other when they shouldn't. I am a lead in the office. I probably spend a little too much time talking to the other lead about how stupid everyone is and how they waste time.

    Can't help with that one.

    5. Do you do temps? ?newmommy74

I did for several months. It helped me discover that I ovulated late and had a short luteal phase. I don't track anymore because we're dealing with male factor infertility, so it doesn't matter.

  • I am new!  I am due June 21 : ).  We moved over here from Spokane in August.  We live in Edmonds.
  • Pregnant Questions

    1. What week are you in? Any new aches or pains? Almost 28 weeks.  Only thing painful is stepping on the scale.  ;)

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment?  Have an appt. this Wednesday. Yucky glucose test, but I'm excited to bring DS1 to the appt.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? Putting together my son's new twin bed and continuing work on the boys' room.

    4. Monday confession?

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC   We spaced these purchases out over the pregnancy, so we could bargain shop.  My advice is to put off buying an expensive stroller until the baby is here and you have an idea of what you want the stroller for.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89  Nope, too cheap to buy one.  That and I don't really think it's good for the baby to be constantly exposed to the doppler. If I had one I'd want to use it a ton.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  -Purvalicious  My answer doesn't really apply because we didn't not stay in the hospital.  I packed only a clean outfit for myself and baby.  We were back home  4 hours after the birth.

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl  We did interview pediatricians and it was helpful, although we had to switch once already and I'm not thrilled with our second option so I'm considering a 3rd switch.  :/

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?   -TacticalTurtleneck  I was busting out of my pants by 12-13 weeks with this baby...got big way faster than the first time around despite gaining less weight in first tri.

    1. What week are you in? I am 14 weeks and a few days now. Any new aches or pains? Feeling remarkably normal! I have some energy back, too which is nice.

    2. When is your next appointment? Will anything special happen at that appointment? I am going to the Genetic Counselor this week to get some genetic tests: CF and MaterniT21. I am probably being overly thorough.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? I am looking forward to no more snow! and being able to ride my bicycle to work again.

    4. Monday confession? I got accidental exercise today-- normally, I don't consider my leisurely bicycle ride to work real exercise, but today I was running late, so I had to exert myself to hurry up and still make it in time. I admit, I hate unintentional exercise.

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC I have yet to buy any big stuff. I have a feeling that my parents will buy some of it since they did with my sister's baby big ticket items. I also just found out that my sisters want to throw me a shower in our hometown in late April, so that makes me very happy :)

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81 I am starting to feel less and less so like that. I used to though. I never had a lot of strong symptoms in the beginning.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 I got a doppler when I was in my 9th week on craigslist. I was able to find the heartbeat that same day. I use it about every other day for a little assurance. I like it. I haven't used it to share with family though, I feel a little strange about that. I kind of like it to be private-- between me and the DH.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  -Purvalicious Waiting to hear about this!

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? Do people do that? I'm picky on doctors, so not sure how to find one I'll like, but pediatricians don't seem to do interviews the way midwives do. ?fyziksgirl I will probably just pick a convenient practice. I don't think many MDs like being interviewed...

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?  -TacticalTurtleneck N/A

    11. Questions for next week? None right now.

?gakester8 I think you should feel free to test whenever you want/feel comfortable. I never tested that much when TTC, because I had a fairly short LP/was never late.

    5. Do you do temps? ?newmommy74 I did-- was rather obsessed with it. I have quite the chart collection on fertility friend.

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? Being able to breathe again!

    4. Monday confession?

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC I'm trying to buy it as it goes on good sale. Since I've been watching for a long time I have an idea of what is actually a good sale. Camelcamelcamel.com is also helpful!

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81 Absolutely! Well, not anymore, b/c my belly is too big and baby girl tends to wake up with me, but I did all the time first tri!

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 I didn't, ACOG doesn't recommend it and I couldn't justify the risk just for my own fun, even if it is a small risk. My hubby and I recorded the hb on our phones at our appointment when the mws used the doppler and shared with friends and family that way.

?fyziksgirl

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?  -TacticalTurtleneck

    11. Questions for next week?

    TTCing Questions

    5. Do you do temps? ?newmommy74 Absolutely, once I got into the habit it was easy and it was my most trusted way to confirm ovulation. I, though, used an adjusted method of adding 0.1 degree for every half hour late I woke up and subtracting 0.1 degree for every half hour early. Such adjustments don't work well for everyone, but they worked beautifully for me and is what my friend, who uses NFP as her only BC, was told to do in her extensive training.

    1. What cycle are you on? Waiting to O or 2WW?

O should be any day now..

    2. What are you looking forward to this week?

Hopefully getting a +OPK... The down side is then comes the 2WW!

    3. Monday confession?

Hubs & I had a bit of a disagreement about the prescribed baby making schedule.. I dropped it because no +OPK but it makes me nervous that we didn't do it! :[ I'm starting to see how rough this could really be..

?gakester8

    Not sure..

    5. Do you do temps? ?newmommy74

I do and they're starting to be more consistent.. I wonder if that means my cycle is getting more regular?

  • 1. What week are you in? 34 weeks, 5 days Any new aches or pains? Same old, same old!  :)

    2. When is your next appointment? I had one yesterday- he is head down instead of transverse now, yay! Next one is Thursday next week. Will anything special happen at that appointment? GBS test... YAY!

    3. What are you looking forward to this week? My mom is going to revamp Laurel's old bed skirt for Lane's room and make me some cute crib sheets.

    4. Monday confession? I am currently addicted to goldfish crackers and ice.  Chewing ice.  Better than candy, right?

    5. When did you buy "the big stuff" for baby? I'm pretty sure no one will get us the expensive things (crib, stroller, car seat). I started looking pretty early for good deals on craigslist.  I knew I wanted a simple crib - Ikea Gulliver - but I found it assembled on CL for 60 vs. the 100 new. The stroller and car seat were gifts from family.  Get a carseat by 36 weeks and you can get by with just a Snap N Go stroller for awhile before you really need anything more. For this baby, we're able to reuse some things, but I'm putting off buying a double stroller until I really really seem to need it.  I will wear DS in a carrier while putting DD in a stroller for the first few months.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? Early in the pregnancies? Yes.  Especially during this pregnancy because I had a m/c before it.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? Nope and nope.

    8. I know this has been asked before, frequently, but can we have the 2nd time moms list the must haves for the hospital bag?  I need to get mine packed in the next few weeks and I have no idea what I need and what I don't.  Comfy pants: yoga, pajama, sweat pants, etc. Nursing tanks, a nursing cover so if you have lots of visitors you don't have to kick them out of the room, I preferred using a breastfeeding pillow to the millions of pillows that they already have at the hospital, makeup, your own shampoo and conditioner, toiletries/stuff for DH, going home outfits (I'm bringing two or three options), nursing pads (you never know how long you might have to stay at the hospital, and your milk might come in), chapstick, hairbrush, babybook for footprints, laptop or tablet, cellphones, chargers.

    9. Are you actually interviewing pediatricians? I went with recommendations from my OB and families that I teach.  Woodinville Pediatrics got good reviews and we knew we wanted a female ped, so I went with Dr. Anderson.

    10. Second time moms, how soon did you start showing/having trouble fitting into your clothes with the second baby?  Definitely earlier... hmm I think around 14 weeks?

I don't remember what it's called ("my days" or something like that).  I actually liked it better in some ways, but mostly i liked that it was more discreet on my phone.  I am using FF now, though, b/c of the online backup.  The data loss wasn't b/c of the app, though, it was a problem with my phone/sd card.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81 I did for awhile earlier on, 8-15 weeks. Mainly because I have had no m/s and feel great and also haven't been showing. Just in the last week, week and a half I have started to feel a growing belly so that is more reassuring.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 I really want one!

    4. Monday confession? My in-laws stress me out! Even on vacation, even though we have separate hotel rooms! Still unsure what we're going to do when baby arrives and they want to come "help."

If it makes a difference, I'm not having a shower since we're new to the area. -ShevaCC My question...so far bought crib bedding but no crib, thinking of picking up the rest slowly to space out the expense.

    6. Does anyone wake-up in the morning and because they feel so 'normal' wonder: "Am I still pg"? ?Hailes81 I did for a lot of 2nd trimester. Once I was over morning sickness and before I started feeling movements, so from approx week 12 to nearly week 20.

    7. Would you/did you buy a fetal doppler? (I'm wanting one so I can share the hb with family that otherwise would never get to hear it in person at an appointment.) ?jhunter89 I was torn between being worried about side effects and wanting one.
