Graco vs Maxi Cosi infant car seat

We purchased a Mamas & Papas Sola stroller, and it can be used with either a Graco or Maxi Cosi infant car seat. We prefer the looks of the Maxi Cosi car seats, but obviously are NOT basing our decision on looks.

I'd love input/opinion on either of these car seats. I know there are a lot of Graco models, but I'm thinking either the snugride 30 or 35, not interested in the 65.

For additional info, my car is a VW Jetta. We'll be purchasing an SUV for DH but not until summer. We're thinking about Ford Edge, or Jeep Patriot or Liberty.

Thanks!!

Re: Graco vs Maxi Cosi infant car seat

  • I had a maxi cosi carseat with my daughter and got another one for my son I LOVE it no comparison with a graco it's like comparing a BMW to a ford soo much easier to carry and so much lighter the padding is alsoboucher more plush and has better quality fabric we used ours a lot and never showed any signs of wear ! I like the way the baby sits in this seat a lot better to it only goes up to 20 pounds which for us wasn't a big deal bc our daughter who is really big out grew height before weight we switched her to a britax  marathon at 8 months though.

  • I would check which is lighter and smaller. I went with the Maxi Cosi but I have had problems with the handle sticking when I try to move it.
  • I would get whichever one fits better in your Jetta.  We had a Snugride for DD and it was too large to fit on either side of our '07 Outback, and very difficult to install in the center.  This time we got the Maxi Cosi and it easily fits into the back seat.  (As a bonus, I think it looks nicer!)

  • Thanks for the advice guys!  I didn't realize BRUs would let you try and fit them in your car.  Makes sense!  That will help with the decision a lot.

  • Most Babies R Us' don't carry the Maxi Cosi in store though.

We LOVE our Maxi Cosi and can't wait to use it again for this baby.  I used to have a Dodge Neon and it fit great.  Now we have a 2010 Jeep Patriot and it fit great in there as well. I bought it because it was so light.
