Velcro or snaps

Has anyone used BG 4.0 with Velcro? I like the initial idea of Velcro is it may allow for better customized fit, but my main concern is longevity. I also wonder if toddlers once they become more aware don't find creative ways to pull their diapers off! Lol

Yeah, you've pretty much got it. Velcro is faster to get on and off and easier to get a good fit. Bad side is it wears off and it's easier for a pantsless toddler to escape. Also must use laundry tabs or do them up inside out before they go in the wash.

Snaps take more effort to do up and sometimes don't get as tight of a fit. They last longer and can take escape artists longer to figure out. You also don't have to worry about them in the wash.

like the PP you have it figured out. We use all snaps not as customizable of a fit but work well, even with a squirming infant they are not too hard to get on. I prefer the snaps over velcro especially for the wash...I would most likely forget to put the tabs together...if not me DH

I have no preference of one over another. DD figured out aplix a while ago, so I use those with onesies or even a wool cover if I need to. Her BGs with aplix still look fine. Her Thirsties with aplix look awful, but still function.

I have a BG velcro and dont like the velcro, it comes off the tabs in the wash.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I will stick with snaps based of how well they last. I am not a fan of adding more steps to CD than necessary and I didn't realize about the fact you'd have to worry about laundry tabs. Sure the fit may not be the best...but it should be close enough.

When I first started cloth diapering I thought velcro would be best...well I don't really like them! Although they are GREAT for husbands LOL

I have bought more diapers now and are all snaps, I love them

My husband does not haha

I prefer Velcro for the early stages, but for a one-size diaper that I plan on using for a long time I prefer snaps. The reasons you listed are bang on!!

Initially I purchased all snaps simply because of the toddler issue of removing the diaper. Well, I no have a squirmy 8 month old and there is NO WAY I can get snaps on her. I'm thanking God that I bought a bunch of velcro for my husband to use. I'm put the snaps on the bottom shelf until she gets a little older and less figity. The velcro BG I bought for my husband has been in rotation for 6 months or so and I don't have any problems with the velcro so far. And remembering to fasten the tabs for washing has become second nature you don't even think about it anymore. If you are worried about using the diapers for a second child, cottonbabies sells refresher kits for a 1.50 to replace the velcro and elastic.

I liked velcro for middle of the night changings, but we're one year out and our BG velcro is looking rather ragged.

I have both, like both, and use both. If I had to pick one over the other, I'd pick velcro. The BG 4.0 velcro, in particular, is WAY better in the longevity department than the previous versions.

I'd suggest getting some of both, and seeing what you prefer.

Lurker butting in...

Another plus for snaps is that once they get really mobile, one side of the diaper stays on while you wrangle them around the get the other side on. Velcro comes undone and you have to start over.

This exactly. I have a few velcro dipes that I use just for night time so it's easier to get a good fit when they're double stuffed. I like snaps for the daytime though.
