We didn't have a glider with DS but will be buying one for this baby. I found one on Craigslist that seems to be pretty good but doesn't lock. How necessary is that feature for you ?
you don't need it...after 8 months we finally removed the stupid locking mechanism....finally rocking without listening to the klinking of the locking mechanism
I only use the locking feature when I move the glider. I bought it to rock, so it seems silly to ever turn the rocking part off. BUT that said, we do lock the ottoman's gliding feature more often. DD likes to climb up there to sit.

i just started using mine, and that is because dd likes to climb up to "read" her books while I am upstairs doing laundry or whatever. I lock it so its easier for her to get up, and so I know she isnt catching her fingers while I am not right there.
