I've googled this a bunch but everything that comes up is about implantation bleeding and I know I am not pregnant.
I usually spot before my period but this month has been crazy. This is my 6th day of heavy spotting, varying from dark brown to bright red, but not enough to need a tampon. I was so hopeful this morning with a slight increase in flow and marked CD 1, but then it totally tapered off so I don't think this is a period.
Have you ever had a cycle where you weren't sure if you got a period or not? I guess I just need to wait it out, but if I just stop bleeding I am not sure how to mark it in FF. So frustrating...
TIA

I read somewhere that spotting before AF means that your progesterone is low. Maybe you should get your progesterone checked or try some progesterone cream after ovulation each month?

~PAIF/SAIF Welcome~
This is a possibility and was true for me. When I went to see my OB for my annual after I was TTC for 6 cycles, I brought my charts. I ended up on prometrium, which helped tremendously with my LP length (which was usually 10-11 days at that point) and excessive LP spotting.
She took 7dpo bloodwork to determine my progesterone levels.
2 cycles ago I had 5 days of spotting starting about a week after ovulation. It went from light pink, to red, to dark brown. I had had spotting before but it was generally closer to when I would start my period.
It's something I talked to my RE about last month. His initial gut was my ovulation was off, even though my charts indicated a thermal shift and I was getting positive OPK's he said he didn't trust that info.
Sorry I have nothing more to offer. I guess I can totally understand the frustration though.

My BFF went through fetity treatments and her RE told her the spotting was due to low progesterone.

I'm pretty sure that spotting around O is different from spotting in your LP. I spot for 1-2 days before my period. TCOYF says that coupled with a short LP, spotting before your period could be a sign of low progesterone. And don't be too scared, if you have low Pit is treatable. If anyone does go get checked by their OB for this make sure you are 7 days post o, not cd 21.

Me. While TTC, my LP's were 9 to 11 days and I would start spotting 3 to 4 days after O, every cycle. My P4 was tested at 7DPO and was fine (19 something). My RE had no explanation..thought I did have high FSH. The cycle I got pregnant my P4 was actually lower than the cycle I had it tested and wasn't pregnant (17 something).
It's annoying, I should have bought stock in pantiliners!
