Advice please re: registry

So, I am very lucky to be having 2 showers but i cannot figure out where all to register.  My hometown where i will be having a very large shower is in podunck-ville west texas 50 miles from any major shopping.  Most people will buy from the local "dept store" and im sure i will get lots of green and yellow clothes, hats, socks, and blankets :)

. I am for sure registering at babies r us and i want do do one other place and its btwn target or amazon.  Everyone i talk to thinks target will be easier for people but i'm just not sure.  I dont think there is anything at target that is not at bru.

If i did amazon, i could at least add some things that might not be carried at bru or target and people could buy online.   I guess what im wondering is what yalls opinions are and if anyone here has any advice or experience with registering at amazon.

Also, is it going to be dumb to have some duplicate items on both registeries regardless of where i register at.  My thoughts were i will just watch them and when something is bought, delete it from the other registery.

 Sorry this is so long!!

  • I have always heard that target sucks for registries bc of their return policy. I like when people register at amazon bc I order everything from there!

  • I had two registries: one at Amazon and one at BRU. I loved the Amazon one because you could add things from other websites and there was more variety BUT only 1 person bought from my Amazon registry. Not sure if that's just the case with me, but I think some people like to go into the store to look around. Personally, I wouldn't duplicate items because I hate making returns, but if you don't mind it then I've heard BRU is pretty good about returns for items bought off your registry.

  • I'm using myregistry.com . It lets you collect things from different stores and post them all together on one website. So far, it's been very easy to use. I recommend it!

  • I registered at BRU and Amazon.  Most of the people who came to my shower gave gifts from BRU and the people who live out of state who couldn't make it to the shower ordered off of Amazon.  I say register both places.

  • I would register at Amazon.  Also I would NOT duplicate items.  It's much easier to not have to worry about checking your registry.

  • I LOVED my amazon registry- it was so easy to use. They even keep a "thank you note" section for your records. I actually did have some duplicates with my other registry but turned out everyone used my amazon registry so it didn't matter. My other one was with the baby depot (burlington coat factory). theirs was so hard to use and not user friendly on their returns (the one thing I got there I needed to return) so I would not recommend them.

ETA: Amazon also has the "universal registry" feature so that you can add items from outside websites, I liked that feature.
