Where is the best place to start researching daycare providers, in-home and centers.

    ditto this .. every county has one. that's where i found dd's back up daycare. another source is craigslist (where i found dd's AWESOME dcp) but like the child care council- you have to do your homework - visit the place, check the license status, etc.

    Another ditto - I got the list from them of providers who met our needs, selected a few and called about their complaint history, etc then made visits after that.

    I used yelp.  :)  We knew of several biggish places near us that I was interested in and I investigated those and found other places to look at too.  I found DS preschool on yelp and then realized it was a place I drove by ALL the time.  Yelpers had great things to say so I went from there.
