f/u RE: my menopause freak-out

I talked to my RE's nurse about my upcoming cycle and I mentioned that AF was very late for me.  I asked her what the chances were that I might be in menopause.  She giggled, which actually comforted me a bit, she said "hun I doubt you are in menopause".  I knew I was being irrational, but I'm a DOR girl, with a really sh!tty AMH, to me I felt like it was a legitimate fear.  She had me go in to have my progesterone and beta HCG drawn.

Like anticipated my beta hcg was negative, and my progesterone level was low indicating AF should be in town or would be very soon.  They had me hold off for the weekend to see if she would arrive.  She arrived this morning!!!  My cycle was freaking 38 days.  I know that 38 days may not belong for some, but my cycles are usually 26 days.

Hooray for my nurse and AF for easing my fears.  I will be starting the pill soon for my next cycle!!!

Re: f/u RE: my menopause freak-out

  • Glad it worked out and AF showed!

However, I give the side-eye to the nurse for giggling about menopause. Not that this is the case for you at all, but I've been in some state of peri-menopause probably since my mid-late 20s, and am in full on POF at the age of 36. It's really not anything to laugh about. But, I'm glad she eased your fears.

I completely agree! I thought it was inappropriate, and I have no idea why it made me feel a little better. Most days I would find this very offensive. However, I was hoping/wanting her to tell me that I am crazy for thinking that menopause is just around the corner for me. The truth of the matter is it maybe, although it is not healthy, I would like to be in denial, at least through my next cycle.

I gotta say, I would've given the side eye as well since I hit menopause at the ripe old age of 29.  That nurse should shown a bit more professionalism there.

Anyway, I'm glad AF finally arrived and you can move forward with your next cycle!

    Good Luck!

And I don't think you were being irrational at all...I would've been thinking the same thoughts.
