I am hoping to find a babysitter this year to use every now and again to give DH and I a break. It would not be set hours more just on call, I am thinking a High School Sr. or a Freshman in collage age range. Someone recommended care.com, has anyone used them? I think I have to pay for the service?
Also anyone in the Concord/WC/PH/Martinez area have someone they use that they really like ?
Re: Anyone hire a babysitter from care.com?
I would try the DVC job board. Isn't there a mom's group in PH/WC, would they have any recommendations?
I wish one of my cousins didn't move out of the area as she would have been a great candidate for babysitting. Good luck!
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
April would they be willing to do just here and there jobs? I didn't know if it was just for set schedule type of jobs, where we would be looking for here and there for date nights and such.
I would specify that in your job posting. That is exactly what we wanted, though a little bit more consistency (one morning a week). We got a number of responses immediately and ended up finding someone we love (and have had for the last two years). I will be super sad when she graduates!!

I have not but I have a few friends that have and are very happy. I would for sure do it if I wasn't so lucky with local parents

That would be perfect!
That would be great thanks!
I did a posting for a very part time sitter. I was very specific that I needed someone very rarely but we were looking to have someone on hand for date nights and such. I also specified the amount per hour, and received tons of replies. I was cheap ;-)
I've had several friends find their nanny's on there and are quite pleased.
That's good to hear. We are thinking about getting someone just one day a week if the 4 days we have my mom is too much for her, but was worried I'd never find anyone for such parttime work. We are going to see how the first month goes and then decide, but its good to know I might get a hit.
I have not hired anyone from it but DH and I saw a commercial for it and were like..."how neat" so I went on and looked. Turns out I knew about 4-5 people from this area who are on there. These people I would 100% trust with my son so I feel like the site must be pretty good. I also noticed that a huge amount of them are early care and ed students state here who are working on their degrees so I think it is a good place for them to start off too.
I think this site seems pretty legit.

EJ is growing up too fast!
We've hired one gal and are looking at another one since the first gal's school schedule has changed.
I like care dot com better than sitter city. sitter city felt like I was trolling personal ads for my kid. The photos on that site were a bit too myspace/facebook trashy for me.
