Do you do silly things?

DH & I were trying to pass some time on Friday.  I had a notebook, and we made up a story.  The only rules were that you could write 3 words, then pass it to the other person.  We filled 17 pages of our little notebook, and it was hilarious (and a little raunchy).  It got me thinking, do you guys do silly things still with your DH?  Or are we just over-grown juveniles?

Re: Do you do silly things?

  • Yes all the time! We make up songs about either the baby, the dog, or what we're doing to the tune of whatever is on the radio. Sample:  (to the tune of Highway to the Danger Zone)  "I am a cute....baby man. Let me tell you, I am a cute....baby man."  I just remembered this one because we did it last night.

Ha ha!  We make up songs all the time!  Smile  PS - I heart Weird Al.  lol
  • Um.  DH and I are like 13.  Our child is never going to grow up with us as examples. We wrestle on the living room floor, we quote Dumb & Dumber on a regular basis.  We do a special song and dance when there are too many dirty dishes in the sink.  "Dirrrrty dirrrrty dish-ez.  Dirrrty dirrrty dish-ez." After Jack goes to bed we come up with games to play with his toys like who can take the hardest hit with the spiky-bouncy ball. lol

I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • I actually told DH the other day that I miss our silliness. We have been really stressed recently. My mom even says that we are really different these days, and I really think that now that DH has friends (he befriended some of my cousins in the past year, and they are 30 and 32. We are 26) he tries to impress them by being more like them.

The problem is, they are both always SCREAMING with their new wives... They rode along in our van when we went skiing last weekend, then we had dinner together, then watched the Broncos/Pats game. We couldn't go 30 minutes without one of the other couples arguing and cursing at each other and over the dumbest things. DH and I didn't argue once.

So I told DH my concerns and how I felt he was becoming mean to me just to "show off" for his friends, and I told him I wish we could go back to how we used to be. Since then, things have been better, and we've been sillier. We don't do much writing together, but we like MadLibs, we play dumb games, Wii, and our idea of a perfect date is roller skating, not wine tasting.

Snort!  That totes sounds like something we'd do!

And jess - Imma totally steal K!  Your new siggy is adorbs!  ZOMG she's so cute!!

  • We do silly things a lot. DS1 got two basketball hoops for Christmas that are now mounted on his wall. A few days ago, while he was at school and DS2 was napping, we played HORSE which turned into PIG (because we kept missing) and the rule was that you couldn't shoot the ball normal (so you had to be laying down, eyes closed, backwards, ect.) Loser got to change Ari's next poop.
  • We make a lot of poop jokes if that counts.  We are currently watching the whole series of Lois and Clark the new adventures of Superman so that we can make fun of it by adding the word "super" infront of things.  It is very lame, but we are usually spliting a bottle of wine and giggling.

  • We really don't do anything silly anymore.  Come to think of it, I feel like we never did (which is weird, considering we are both pretty goofy).  I have to say that I love this thread though and hopefully we will incorporate some of these into our daily lives!

  • Well, we used to get each other with "that's what she said" about 100 times/day but we quit right before we had C because we didn't want it to be his first words.  We still slip it in sometimes.  And, I'm truly shocked the his first word wasn't yessshh.  We make up funny songs all of the time too and have whole convos where we make up voices for C, the dog, and all of C's puppets.

Oh man - we do that all the time with songs.

We also narrate/"talk" for the dog and the baby. Jonny has a cute little high pitched baby voice and the dog has a deep kinda sad voice. The other day DH actually said "It'll be kinda sad when Jonny learns how to talk for himself and we can't narraite and talk for him anymore". But I told him not to worry since we will still have the dog who will never learn to talk...haha.

  • awww.. i think that's really cute. and yes, you probably are just overgrown juveniles. ;) but what the hell, aren't we all? My DH loves to make up songs.. he starts to sing something and then he changes the words. He likes to make sure he fits G's name in there somewhere for every song.. it's quite amusing.
  • Not anymore and I don't now why. We are boring now I guess. :-/

Haha, we do this too, except Scout has kind of a high pitched goofy voice and Alexander has the lower one.

We also do this thing where every dog we see out in the real world "says" "Say hi to Scout for me!" in the appropriate dog voice (deep for a big dog, high pitched for a small one)  We are so lame!
