Another "since the board is slow"-- embarassing toys

Does your LO(s) have toys that are embarrassing to bring out in public?  Maybe they are super dirty or just not really toys/appropriate?

A few months ago when G was first potty training she was pulling at her little lady a lot and seemed to be almost in pain when she would pee.  I was worried she had a UTI so we went to the Dr.  She was able to pee in a cup there (super proud of that manuevre!) and it was negative for a UTI but the Dr. gave me another specimen cup and told me if symptoms got worse over the weekend I could collect some more urine and bring it in for another test.  She was fine and so I had the cup in my glove compartment and forgot about it but about 2 months ago, I opened up the glove compartment and she saw it and it was on like donkey kong.  She loves.that.cup.  you know it is perfectly sized for a 2.5 year old and she can screw on and off the lid and put little stuff in it.  It has never been "used" but it is quite clear what it is.  She likes to put her little toys in it and carry it around EVERYWHERE.  I always have to explain that it has never been used when we show up somewhere with it.

  • I'm howling over this!!  HA!!!!!!!

So far, we haven't had any out of the ordinary things...just the usual tupperware/spatulas/etc.

There was the time though, that he saw a tampon and tried wrestling it out of my hand yelling "Ding da!", which is his word for string cheese....

  • Love that!!

Caroline has my old stethoscope that she carries everywhere...but she smeared peanut butter all over it and I can't get it off.  Its super gross, but she loves it.  She listens to "Pahhhhkahhh's bewwwwy...gurgle gurgle glub glub".  It is hilarious.

I hate that tampons/pads are pink and "fun looking"...

I have yet to have a "sticker" incident, but is coming!

  • Dillon loves opening panty liners. One day we were in the store buying some and just had to hold them to bring to the cashier. So there I am at the cashier with the boy and his panty liners who would not give them up to be rung in.... "I'll give them right back when we are done". ... The cashier (who was a teenage boy) was turning purple trying to hold in his giggles.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.

  • We have a little bar in our living room.  On the bottom of the bar, we only have mixing cups, martini accessories, etc.  Nothing breakable and all the liquor is high up in the bar where he can't reach.  But, without fail, whenever we have someone over, he will go in and get the martini mixer and metal cup out and start pretending to make drinks.  People must think that we are fall-down drunks.

  • Not embarassing, but when she was a few months old, we went through a month where DD took a (clean) blue nose sucker everywhere. She'd chew on it, squeeze it, hold it...

  • Ha! That's hysterical =)
  • Oh my gosh -- these stories are hysterical!  I can't really thing of anything, though they are obsessed with baby wipes.  They also pretend to make me coffee all the time, and Ava says she loooooves coffee.  Sometimes we share a chai latte (non-caff), which looks just like iced coffee.  I get the best looks.

  • Hilarious!   Nicholas calls my maxipads "diapers".   "Mommy wear die-pa (in his little southern twang)?"

Miles calls them my special undies.  He was at the grocery with MIL and SIL and they were picking up some tampons.  Miles said (as loud as he could of course) "Hey!  Grandma, that's the kind Mommy uses!"  :-)  I haven't figured out how to explain the tampon yet.  The pantyliners are easy...tampons notsomuch.

  • I literally LOL at these stories.  I rarely do that.  We also have a urine cup that hangs around the toy bin.  DD picked one up duing my pregnancy days.  She also loves to pick out pads for me, and used to scold me when I was preg and need to change them becuase I snissed.  Mommys aren't supposed to pee themselves you know.
