1st Trimester

Progesterone levels

So, my progesterone level at 4wks,5days was 15.  At 8 wks,2 days it was only 18.  My doctor doesn't seem to be concerned because technically it's in the normal range for 1st trimester, but it doesn't seem to be climbing very much?  Has anyone else had the same experience?

Re: Progesterone levels

  • I actually had mine drop from one week to another.  I freaked out, but the dr assured me that as long as it is withing normal range it is fine.  Progesterone is not expected to jump up like HCG.   It may stay pretty steady.

  • As long as it's in a normal range and your DR isn't concerned you should be fine! Progesterone is nothing like HCG...

This and P4 levels can vary quite a bit depending on the time of day, etc. Plus, most women who are on supplements stop at around 10 weeks because that is when the placenta takes over.

  • Thanks, y'all! Your responses make me feel a lot better. I forget that progesterone doesn't function like HCG.

  • Mine is at 18, which my doctor called "a hair below 20". So don't worry! She did put me on meds to boost my levels. The look on my husbands face when he was taking it out of the bag and realized that no, this is not a pill, was priceless!
