Just wondering what age most people stop listening to their children on a monitor every night. I am very attached to mine and have ours on in Gracie's room every night. When I am gone for the evening, DH never uses one and he laughs me for running to get it every night as soon as I put her to bed.
Re: At what age do/did you stop using the monitor?
When he moves out??
Really, I'll probably get rid of it when I'm confident that he could coherently come get us if he needed us in the night--threw up, had a bad dream, etc. It'll be a while, because like you, I'm very attached to it. Plus, I love looking at his sweet self sleeping.
Right now our rooms are right next to each other so when she needs something, she gets out of bed, comes to her door and calls for us. We mostly just use the monitor to see if she's asleep or messing around in her room.
If her room is further away when we move, we'll either start listening to her room again (if DS's room is closer) or have both receivers on in the room. Or I suppose we could start opening her door but I'm not sure if she could sleep with it open.
I stopped using it with DD when we moved her to her big girl room/bed around 26 months. at that point she could get out of her room if she wanted and come into our room.
This. Our rooms are close enough that we can hear both kids and we keep all the doors open, but they come get us when they need us.
