Hi everyone, this is actually the first time I am posting, but I really need some helpful advice. I will be 16 weeks along tomorrow, and just learned that my ARC OB at Medical Park is leaving the practice. I am really upset because I just loved my doctor! I am now unsure what to do - stay in the same practice with a different doctor or start over elsewhere. This is my first pregnancy, so to say I am upset is an understatement. I am not sure if it would be too difficult to stay in the same practice without the doctor that I loved. I'm also nervous about going elsewhere mid-pregnancy. Does anyone have advice or suggestions? Any great OBs out there in Austin that might help me get past this? I really appreciate your feedback.
Re: ARC OB Leaving Practice - What to Do
It's no fun to be faced with finding a new doctor and certainly during a pregnancy, I can understand it's an added and unwanted stress. I would start by asking yourself if you're set on the hospital that you were going to deliver at. If there's one closer to you or a facility that has better services you've been considering, then start your search for doctors who can deliver there. If you like the hospital you have, then there's probably no reason to look further than the OB practice you're already with.
If you still have another appt scheduled, ask your current doctor who she feels has similiar ideals to her etc or who she thinks would be a good match for you. When I first got out of college I saw a doctor with North Austin Medical Center.I LOVED HIM. I mean like, I thought about getting pregnant so he could be THE doctor. I wasn't even married
When he left for further education (Neonatalogy I think), he recommended my current OB who happened to deliver at St. David's Round Rock. Although it was an extra 20 minute drive for me at the time (no Toll Road!), I went to her because my current doctor spoke so highly of her. That was 11 years ago and I haven't been disappointed one bit. And now I live and work in RR so it works out nicely

I am glad to hear you like other doctors in the practice! Which ones would you recommend? Any experience with Dr. Hansen? Also, do you know if Dr. Gooch is going to a different practice or for sure staying home with her kids?
I saw Dr. Rosa Moreno M.D. several times and she helped to deliver the babies and take care of me in the hospital. I also had to see Dr. Robert Cosentino M.D. when I was having some issues. Although I do not like going to men for OB/Gyn care, he was the best. I would have used him in a heartbeat to take care of me and deliver the twins.
I am not sure on Dr. Gooch. My DH knows/worked with her DH so I will see if he knows anything. You can also call and speak to her nurse directly to see what is happening. Do you have another appointment before her last day?
