Non-convertable crib?

With my daughter, we bought a crib that converted into a toddler bed then a full bed.  It's worked out great and she loves being in a big bed!  The room we will be using for this little one is smaller and we won't have space for a full bed frame.  I was looking into mini-cribs that convert into a twin bed, but I'm not sure about that.  So our thought is to just get a regular, plain old crib then in a few years get a twin bed.  I'm finding it really difficult to find a crib that is JUST a crib and doesn't convert into a bed.  I've only looked online and I looked at Burlington Coat Factory.  Before I hit the pavement and go to all the stores, I thought I'd see if you lovely ladies can recommend a crib that is JUST a crib.  I'm hoping to only spend about $200 for a crib and I'd love to find one that has other matching furniture, such as a dresser.

  • Do you have an IKEA store near you?  They have several basic cribs that are very reasonably priced.

  • I think Target may have some that are just a crib and in the $200 range or less.

  • We bought a europa baby geneva crib for under $200 at Babies R Us (online) based on the good reviews.  It does convert to a full size headboard, but our plan is to use the furniture in the guest room which we're converting a nursery to go along with the crib.  When this LO is older, we hope to be in a new house where we'll have more room and we'll buy matching furniture then.  I think it makes more sense to the dressers to match the real bed rather than the crib.

  • I think we're going with the Ikea Gulliver, which is very reasonably priced. It takes a regular size crib mattress but seems much smaller than those bulky, cumbersome convertible ones I always see at BRU. I think you can remove one of the sides to convert it to a toddler bed as well before making the jump to a full size bed.

  • Try walmart.com they have some very nice under $200 cribs. I totally agree I do not want a convertible crib my ds and lo will always share a room so they will some day end up in bunk beds no room for a full bed.

I've been looking at that crib too, seems practical. This is our last baby and we already have twin/bunkbeds for when she outgrows the crib

  • We got this one... https://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_04916465000P?prdNo=4&blockNo=4&blockType=G4 .  Great price and it got good reviews (I searched the net for reviews).  Haven't put it together yet though.
