So, we just got back from our 1-year checkup. The kids have been sick, but seemed pretty much better, acting normal, eating fine, sleeping fine. But the dr said Ben sounded like he was wheezing a little when he listened to his lungs- I would NEVER have thought anything was going on. He said he has "a little viral pneumonia". What?? A "little"? So, we may have to go back if he gets a fever or gets worse. I'm confused because I thought he was getting better..
The kids all have fluid in their ears, as they just had ear infections, so we still have to watch that..
And here's the really scary part.. he looked at Cameron's chest, and noticed he has a lot of visible veins running through his tummy & chest area. (He has always been like that- he's very pale-skinned and a little thin) He wants us to go to a cardiologist and have an ECG done on him. He did say, its probably nothing.. but I can't believe we're seeing a cardiologist. I am so scared there will be something seriously wrong. Has anyone else has anything like this happen? How do I not freak out here?
And, another fun part.. we switched insurances, and we have to meet a deductible before things like ECGs are covered, so we get to pay for it out of pocket. *sigh*
Re: Sort of scary 1- year appt
I'm sorry to hear that. We had the same situation regarding the "little pneumonia" this week with Connor - he had a fever, but the dr. thinks that was from the fluid in the ear/ear infection. They sent us home with a nebulizer to help the pneumonia and antibiotic as well. I never would have guessed pneumonia.
As for the cardiologist, I'm so sorry. I don't have experience with what the Dr. saw, but I have spent many days at a cardiologist for my 3 year old - he was diagnosed with SVT when he was 2 months old, so we're forever getting EKG's and such. I know its scary, but hopefully it is nothing, better to be safe than sorry.
Good luck!
