It amazes me how many people on here take Tylenol PM as strictly a sleep aid. Tylenol PM is Tylenol (pain reliever) and Benadryl (the sleep aid). Why put the extra medicine in your body if you aren't in pain? That unnecessary acetaminophen isn't good for you or your baby.
Just a thought.
Re: Tylenol PM and Benadryl
im with you on that one- why take 2 combined drugs when you could just take the one thats for sleep, tylenol really doesnt do anything for sleep- its the benadryl that does. i also shy away from tylenol now that there have been studies about development of childhood asthma possibly relating to tylenol use. thats for use in kids, not pregnant women, but still!!
Thank you for saying this! It drives me crazy that people don't seem to understand that there's nothing special about Tylenol PM. If you need to sleep, take Benadryl. If you hurt and need to sleep, take Tylenol and Benadryl. Actually, take the generics. They work the same, but are much cheaper.
Another point of confusion seems to be with Unisom. Unisom Sleep Tabs are doxylamine, the sleep aid often recommended for morning sickness. Unisom Sleep Gels are 50 mg of diphenhydramine, the same thing as taking two Benadryl.
