Baby Names

Emma?

Hello!

I am 7 weeks - so still really early, but love thinking about names! :)

My top girl name choice is Emma but it is listed as super popular. I think it is popular but definitely more classic than trendy. Middle name would be Campbell (family name - Grandfather's last name - he has passed away). Last name starts with a B is 2 syllables)

Honest opinions please. Is it super boring and overdone?

Re: Emma?

  • I don't think it's boring. It's a classic.

  • I think it was overdone five years ago and is losing popularity.  I kinda feel like you gotta go with what you love.

Agree with this. It's a lovely name but I know four little Emma Rose's.

  • I think it is a beautiful name, and I loved it ten years ago, as did a lot of others apparently. There are just so many little Emmas out there, it now makes me think the parents are even slightly behind the times with this name trend.
  • Also my niece is named Emma and my favorite name has always been Elsa and I plan to go with it. Emma & Ella is not much different from Emma & Elsa.

  • I know it's overdone, but I still love this name. If it helps, I think it is losing popularity. I also think Emma Campbell Lastname would be darling!

    Good luck!

    Agreed.

Before I met my DH, I bought a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and named her Emma because I loved it so much. I kick myself sometimes because I wish we could use it for a girl, but obviously it's out for us.

Emma's one of those names that goes from girlhood to adulthood seamlessly. Go for it if you love it. :)

  • It is DD's name and I personally love it (I loved in since the 1980s show Kate and Allie).  I was worried about it being too popular but our love for the name outweighed that.  Since naming DD, I have yet to run into another Emma her same age and have run into very few that are older.  Good luck!
It took over four years to be diagnosed with PCOS. We TTC #1 for 18 months, did 5 rounds of Clomid and finally moved onto IVF...which worked! Throughout our IF journey, we suffered 3 miscarriages. We conceived both DD and DS without treatment.

  • Just a suggestion...my daughter's name is Emmaline (pronounced Emma line, not Emma lyn). And we call her Emmy most of the time. I think Emma Campbell B... sounds nice.
