Well I finally am putting the finishing touches on my bag only to realize with my robe and such the bag is to small. Is it tasteless to bring a small suitcase? Or should I just take two bags?
i was wondering the same thing. my bag is too small and was thinking of bringing my small rolling suitcase but didnt know if people would look at me like im crazy.
I'm packing my bag and I'm using a carry-on suitcase. It'll fit everything with room to spare which was my goal. I believe I've heard of women using carry-ons.

Last time I packed a HUGE rolling suitcase and hardly used anything. This time I "consolidated" into a carry-on rolling suitcase, which I think is just fine.
Besides, how much do you REALLY care if the nurses think, "gee, she brought a really big bag?" I'm sure they see it ALL and that's the least of their concerns.
I don't really think it matters. Whatever you're most comfortable with is probably fine. I didn't worry about whether people would think I was overpacking; DH will be carrying everything anyway, so it really doesn't matter to me. LOL
Im bringing a big bag that way i can fit EVERYTHING in it pillow clothes husbands stuff and he doesnt have to make 100 trips up and down when we get there or when we leave...I was in hospital 6days last time during a snow storm so i had to do without alot it sucked... thank goodness this time i'm having a summer baby...but im also going to be having baby in hospital 1hr away fr home so i dont want to have to make any1 make that drive to my house to get extras...
Just hovering, but a thought.. doesn't the hospital sometimes send you home with more stuff then you came with, besides the baby haha. So I think having enough room with an extra bag verses trying to stuff extra diapers or something into an already packed back would be the better option. That's just me though. Plus everyone's going to be excited for your baby and not care how much stuff you brought with you.
I vote 2 bags or 1 big bag with room to spare. With both of my kids we came home with gifts and then diapers, pads, formula (if you are using formula), and it was hard to fit everything into the bag I had.
I had to opt for suitcase...the robe by itself seemed to make this necessary...i may have bought more yoga pants than I need, but you never know if you're gonna be there a day or 3-4 and while I love DH, sending him home to pick out clothes seems like a set up for failure. Plus, there's room for extras as needed. If the nurses or someone think I'm a diva for having a big bag oh well...I'd rather be prepared than get there and realize I forgot something that suddenly I can't live without..but I'm a FTM..i fully expect my next bag to be smaller LOL
I just made the switch to a small suitcase last night. It is bigger than a carry on. It fits my stuff, DH's stuff and the baby's stuff, with room to spare. With DS I was in the hospital for four days so you just never know.
I am doing a carry on rolling bag. Last time we did a rolling duffle bag, but had too much junk. Don't worry what anyone thinks. Frankly no one will be paying attention to your bag, but only that super cute baby :-). The wheeled bag also makes it easier to drag into the hospital (in my hospital L&D is a pain to get to majorly out of the way).
I'm not bringing a huge bag, but since I am packing my things, a few for the baby, and my husband's, I'm definately not packing a small back. I have a suitcase big with rollers that is a perfect size for things we bring and things we come home with. Just keep in mind you might bring home extra things from the hospital too!
I'm using this so that i have one bag for labor and baby, one for me, one for hubs. It's full. Last time we needed/wanted more stuff then we thought (like towels, hospital towels SUCK). I had a boppy in there too and we'll be bringing our own pillows too.
