Ergo vs Beco Gemini?

Hello!

I am pregnant, and I am definitely planning on baby-wearing. I have registered for a Moby (which everyone seems to love), but I also want something a little easier and "daddy-friendly," but that is also good for the baby. I was originally thinking that the Ergo would be it, but I have recently been hearing good things about the Beco Gemini. Which do you prefer, and why?

Beco. DS loves facing forward and I find it much more comfortable. The ergo seems tom have a wider seat which I found DS doesn't like and the ergo dug in my shoulders.

I have a Beco Gemini and love it! Both me and DH use it daily (we got a plain black one to make DH feel more comfortable using it). I haven't tried an Ergo so I wouldn't be much help in comparing them.

I would recommend going to a store and trying them both out. After I tried the Beco Gemini, I realized it fit my body better than the Ergo. That was the only reason I chose the Beco over the Ergo.

I bought my sister the Gemini when her second baby was born. They really like it. Before I sent it to her I tried it with my, at the time, 28lb tall toddler, and did not like it. It was not wide enough to fit from knee to knee. The Ergo worked for us for about 6 months past that, and then she got a bit too tall (we use it on occasion still, but it is more uncomfortable than it used to be) and we switched to a Mei Tai anyway. So if you get the Gemini just be open to the idea of a larger carrier if you plan on wearing through the toddler years

I have and like both...the Gemini has been my favorite until the last few days when he is now very comfortable in the Ergo without an insert...and now the Ergo is my favorite. So hard to say...you should definitely try both. GL!

LOVE my Gemini. We've been using it from about 8 weeks and use it daily for my now 5 month olds.

I love my Gemini. So much more comfy than the Ergo IMHO. However, that's for ME - I recommend renting both (I used Pax Carrier's rental program) and seeing what you find more comfortable. I love that the Ergo can be used so many more ways too.

I never knew or even thought of renting a carrier! WOW! Freakin' brilliant! haha! Thanks for the tip! I'm so excited to go rent some!

And to the original poster- I have no advice and was wondering the same thing myself. I currently use a Boba Wrap and am very much in love with it but it does get a little hot. I am looking at the ergo or beco for spring/summer.

I love my gemini as well. I think it's easier to put on alone than the Ergo and has more options. I also like that we didn't need an infant insert and that the width of the base was adjustable. Pax baby also lets you have a free trial period with a carrier which is another good option- one warning though, they took FOREVER to get my order to me and had several mess ups. A friend had the same experience with them. They are busy moms so I think sometimes juggling everything gets to be a bit much.
