Bedtime routine

We would like to get our 9 week old son into a night time routine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Bedtime routine

  • Every night, we try to give our LO a bath at the same exact time...doesn't have to be long and I don't even soap her up every time (no need to).  I more so just do it for the routine.  After bath, we take her into her room, apply lotion, put her in her PJ's, turn on the noise machine and feed her for the last time.  After she eats, I turn out the light, swaddle her and then rock with her for a couple minutes just to get her drowsy.  I put her down most nights when she is still slightly awake.

  • We do a bath, lotion, pajamas, white noise machine, swaddle and then he nurses to sleep with the light out. We'll probably have to tweak it when he gets his first tooth but for now it works great :)

  • Be consistent whatever u do, it really works! We do bath, lotion, pajamas/diapers, Feed, swaddle and she is out for a good four hours. We do it at the same time every night and it turned her around

  • My LO is 5 weeks old and within the last week or so we've started a bit of routine. About the time I'm ready to lay down (between 11:30 and 1am most nights) I give him a bottle, change his clothes, I wipe his little neck folds with a wash cloth to make sure there isn't any formula hanging out there, change his diaper, put him into his halo sleepsack, then rock him to sleep if he needs it (sometimes he's sleepy enough I can just put him in his crib with his paci and he'll fall asleep on his own). This usually gets me 4-6 hours before he wants to eat again (I've only gotten 6 hours once though).

  • DH gets home from work between 5:30 and 6 and he does the bedtime routine as a way to spend time with our little guy.  He gives the baby a bath - like pp, it only includes soap a couple nights a week.  Otherwise it's just warm water.

Then he gets dressed/swaddled, DH reads him a story, gives him a bottle, and cuddles with him till the baby falls asleep.  We've been doing this routine since he was 3 weeks old.

  • I give LO a bath with lavender, lotion her, swaddle her, read her a story and brush her hair while she nurses and lay her down still awake. Then I turn on her music and don't go back in the room unless she starts crying. And that's only happened once or twice and she's 10 weeks.
