Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Not eating

Dd has only drank one 4 oz bottle today and all the rest she's only been drinking an ounce I'm so stressed. Idk if it could be teething or if she's coming down with something but she seems fine no fever. When I give her the bottle she either screAms or chews on it/ plays with it. Sometimes when she is drinking I hear her tummy grumble and then she cries. Idk if it's her reflux or what I feel horrible any ideas?

Re: Not eating

  • My son does this once in a while (a day here and there) I don't know why. As long as LO has enough wet diapers and it's not consistent I wouldn't worry to much. If it becomes a daily thing I would call your pedi.

  • Mine did that all day yesterday, and today she's fine.  I think it was gas and needing to poop (which she did this morning).  But I always worry too!
  • I know how you feel!!  DD just got over a tummy bug and since last Friday she hasn't wanted anymore than 3.5 oz.  (she used to take 5)

I am just keeping in close communication with my pedi...she's on Neocate and she also has reflux, so you never know! It's hard not to worry!!

DD has also been INCREDIBLY squirmy during the bottle also.

  • First off, OMG your LO is ADORABLE! Want to do an arranged marriage with a cute little guy? lol

Secondly, we've sort of been going through this as well. We had a formula change a week and a half ago because of a suspected formula allergy. Doing soy now. And in the last week or so, he's been eating a lot less than normal. I know how frustrated you feel.  and I was super frustrated because I didn't feel like anyone was taking my concerns seriously. My pedi finally prescribed zantac and told me if it's not better by Monday to bring him in. He has gotten better about it... but it's still a struggle to get bottles down. We were down at one point to 20 oz in a 24 hour period vs 30. Hang in there, mama!

And if you're really concerned after awhile, take LO in for a weight check. there's usually no copay for that, and if she's still gaining weight, you can feel better about the fact that there's nothing serious going on. GL!
