2nd Trimester

Tell me your face wash/moisturizing routine or products

if you have bad acne like I do! I usually had flare ups the week before AF, and now since I've been pregnant it's been awful! My last pregnancy gave me clear/glowing skin, and this one isn't.

Any way, let me know what works for you..I've tried salicylic acid (way too harsh) and I've been using Cetaphil now (but it seems to be making me oilier)..I just can't win!

  • Last pregnacy I used Acne Free....got it at rite-aid for like 20 bucks.  I just started breaking out more so i picked up another pack.  Just started using it.

They also have Acne Free severe or something like that for more serious acne.

  • I use Mary Kay Products! The time wise series. I love it! So moisturizing. It's great because I have super oily skin and it lessens my oil on my skin. I use it every morning and evening before bed.

  • Anything with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide are not recommended with pregnancy. I use just cetaphil with my clairosonic and use clinique moisturizer.

For me my acne has drastically subsided once I got out of the first tri

  • I have acne too and my skin does not care that I am pregnant. The first trimester I was breaking out pretty bad (which is not unusual for me), but its now calmed down a bit. I ended up getting a facial to extract all the nasty stuff I had on my face and it seemed to help.

Also, I've been using a Neutrogena benzoyl peroxide wash but I don't think it really does anything. This is tough to address. Oh wait, I recently also started applying aloe (the actual plant which is gooey) to my face. I feel this helps soothe and calm my skin, it also makes it feel tight and its all natural.

  • I can't use anything. Everything just burns the sh!t out of my skin.

  • Ironically, my crappy skin does better when I'm gentle with it.

    Warning: I'm a Sephora junkie.

    Facewash: Philosophy Purity Made Simple

Exfoliation: I use a Clarisonic up to once/day

Toner: DDF Glycolic 10% Toning Complex

AM Moisturizer: Boscia Oil-Free Daily Hydration SPF 15

PM Moisturizer: Boscia Oil-Free Nightly Hydration

    Eye Cream: Skyn Iceland

I LOVE the Boscia line and am slowly switching over. It's all natural and preservative free. I also really like DDF, Fresh, and Murad.

ETA: Let me point out that I tend to have incredibly oily skin. Another thing that REALLY made a difference for my face was switching to sulfate-free shampoo. It takes some getting used to but I can go 3 days between washing my hair now and it's not even remotely oily. It's made a big difference for my face, especially my forehead, cheeks, and jawline. Also, I recently switched to Boscia moisturizers and between those and my facewash, I was able to get my skin to balance the oil production so that I'm never dry and I'm never oily. It's really cleared things up. Hang in there. Having crappy skin sucks.

  • I'm with PP on some of this: I use Philosophy Purity wash with my clarisonic mia followed by Philosophy Hope in a Jar, bare minerals make-up and then remove makeup at the end of the day with Say Yes to Cucumbers facial clothes. I have dry skin, so this stuff helps keep my skin soft and bright.

However, for acne, nothing works better than ProActiv. I would check the ingredients for pregnancy safety, but it's over-the-counter, gently exfoliating and works amazingly after using it for 2 weeks. Just my $0.02. Good luck!

  • I've been using ProActiv since about 6 months before I got pregnant, and I'm really happy with it.  I use only the renewing cleanser once per day.  I also use Clinique moisture surge (the pink one) after showering, before putting on makeup.

  • Burt's bees sensitive skin cleanser with cold water.
  • Try using a Clarisonic - it does wonders with deep cleaning and removing superficial blemishes from your face.  Use it twice a day if you can, but be sure to wash the brush completely each time.

Also, after I bought mine, one of the "drug store" brands came out with a much less expensive one and I'm sure it's perfectly fine.

  • I don't use any cleanser.... just the facial cloths from Norwex.  At first I was really skeptical and I actually tried using Aveeno facial wash and broke out.  Went back to Norwex alone and cleared right up.  I use Clinique facial moisturizer with gel which is supposed to be better for acne prone skin.

  • Witch hazel has been good for me.i saw someone else post about it and it actually has done wonders for breakouts. I just dab it on with a cottonball after washing my face.

  • Boscia's line of products is amazing. I normally don't have more than one pimple a month and have very normal/not sensitive skin. After I got pregnant I started breaking out, then I started getting dry and flaky in some places. Really frustrating when you try to treat the dryness, then get more pimples where the flakes used to be! So I spent some money (sephora junkie here as well) and have been extremely happy with Bosica's products. I have always used Philosophy's Purity face wash. I added Boscia's Face Tonic (toner) and then the Daily Oil Free Hydration every day. I also bought Bliss' Steep Clean mask and use it once or twice a week for exfoliation (it's pricey, but worht the $). I am now almost back to my normal complexion and have been getting compliments about "glowing skin" in the last week. I think it was all about finding a good moisture balance with products that won't cause breakouts. I have almost no bumps/pimples now. Good luck!!
