1st Trimester

Disappearing symptoms at 12 weeks?

I know everyone's body is different, but I am just concerned.  My food aversions (red meat and eggs) are waning, and I am rarely nauseous.  Is my body just becoming accustomed to my raging hormones?  No spotting, or pain at all.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I suppose I am just looking to be reassured by some that have been in my situation.

Re: Disappearing symptoms at 12 weeks?

  • Completely normal the closer you get to the 2nd trimester.  That's why the 2nd tri is considered the Honeymoon Stage of pregnancy, you feel better and begin to show.

  • As you enter the second trimester many symptoms subside and most people begin to feel "normal" again.  Second trimester is supposed to be the best for this very reason!

  • Thanks guys.  I know I'm being silly, my husband laughs that I worry that I'm feeling better.

Enjoy feeling more human because sometimes you revisit nausea, vomiting, fatigue and the other fun first tri stuff in the 3rd tri too!

  • I woke up one day about 12 weeks and everything was normal again. Even the exhaustion was gone. Breathe a sigh of relief for now.

  • I don't want to scare you but in 2008 when I thought I was 12 weeks I started losing symptoms - I thought it was normal because I was getting ready to go into the 2nd trimester... when I went for my appointment they couldn't hear a heartbeat so they did an u/s and found out that the baby stopped developing at 10 weeks.  I had what was called a missed miscarriage where the only way you find out is through u/s.  No bleeding or cramping or anything.  I'm not saying the same is happening to you but I just want you to be aware that these types of things do happen.  And the crazy part is, the nurse I had last week at my appointment for this pregnancy had no idea that happens when I was telling her about it!!  Goodluck and I hope that everything is alright.
  • I went for an u/s and heard the heartbeat at 10 weeks, and everything looked great.  I started feeling queasy again this evening, no vomiting.  Just nausea and a bit of a headache.  I am aware of missed miscarriages, that's probably why I worry so much.  But I just assume I'm going to worry until I give birth to a healthy baby.  And then a whole different set of worry's will start.

  • Glad you are feeling better & Glad you know about missed miscarriages - I wasn't trying to say you DIDN'T know about it... but a lot of people don't and I think more people should.  Like I said even the nurse I had the other day didn't have a clue about it!
