Any reviews of the Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System?

Hi Ladies,

Has anyone used the Chicco Cortina Travel System?  We looked at it yesterday and really like it.  I read good reviews on it but just wanted to see if anyone has used it here and how was your experience.

Also, is it even worth getting a travel system?  Or is it better to just buy a stroller and car seat separately?

Thanks.

ETA-Sorry about the massive post fail in the post below.

  • I know a few people who have the car seat and love it...I am getting that car seat, but not buying the entire travel system.  I am getting the city mini and the attachment that works with any chicco car seat.

  • We bought this travel system. If you are buying the stroller, then it's worth it to buy the travel system - you end up saving money. Haven't used it yet, obviously, but very happy with our purchase and can't wait to get to use it!!! We bought it "romantic," which is a neutral color (black & gray) in case baby #2 is a boy.

  • Thanks ladies.

Danielle-I am not completely sure of the color yet.  I love this one but I think it might be too girly if the next kid is a boy because I do plan on using the same one for the next kid also.

Which one? The only girly Chicco keyfit/stroller pattern I found was the Bella. All the others I found to be fairly boyish, including the neutral one that I got (Romantic), but I figure it doesn't really matter because she'll be sitting it lol.

  • The Chicco Keyfit car seat got the best ratings from Consumer Reports in their last round of safety testing, so it's the one we're planning to get.  I'm not going to get the travel system, though, as I find them too cumbersome.  I'm planning to get the snap on frame for use with the infant carrier, then when she outgrows that, just use a less expensive basic stroller.

  • We haven't used it yet (obviously!) but this is the one we got!  Luckily for us, it was free through DH's job Smile It was really easy to put together and is really sturdy.  I'm really excited to get LO in there!

I thought the one that I posted the link of looked a little girly.  But the more I look at it the more I like it.

  • That was the travel system we seriously considered buying. It handles really well, folds up easily, seems really sturdy and well engineered, etc. But our holdup was it is giant and SO heavy. The stroller alone is 23 pounds, and the carseat is another 9 or 10! That's 32 pounds you're pushing before you even add in baby! However, I'd rather that than, say, a Graco, which is lighter but I feel handles so poorly and is so hard to push it feels worse! If I was getting a traditional travel system I would get the Cortina, but I obviously have no long-term use reviews :P

We ended up going with the Britax B-Agile and the B-Safe carseat. Much smaller, lighter travel system that we prefer. For me, having to haul it around and maneuver it in stores, etc, I much prefer the flexibility the B-Agile gives me over the Cortina, but it still feels sturdy and has good storage and such kind of like the Cortina.

  • We have the cortina travel system and used it with DD1 and loved it. We still use the stroller with her now and will the system with this baby, I recommend it.

  • we have this travel system, but i wish we would have gotten the car seat only. i never used the stroller so it was a waste. i have a joggin stroller that i love and use all the time. this time around i'm investing in a great baby wrap and that will be how  the baby gets around. my 3 year old doesn't like being in a stroller, except if he's with me when i go running.

  • We had this for DD and we'll be using the carseat and base again (love them!), but I found the stoller a pain in the butt and really hard to fold on my own, also not so great on bumpy sidewalks or snow.

If I had a 'do over' for a first baby, I would just get a something like this to plop the carseat into (since that's what the baby will be in for the first 7-8 months anyway).  The base is super easy to fold on your own and doesn't take up huge amounts of space in your trunk or hallway closet.
