Hi All, I thought I would post an update and announce that baby Mason is finally here! It wasn't the easiest delivery, but none of that matters now he is in my arms (well, in his snugabunny swing at the moment).

Here is a quick labor story for those of you that care to read it:)

Last Saturday I decided to go on a 4 mile walk to try and get things started. I was really scared of the idea of induction or going too far past my due date. I don't know if the walking did anything, but my water started leaking on Sunday.

But, I didn't realize my water was leaking on Sunday until it really broke on Monday. . .

Starting Sunday night I was having contractions every couple of hours. This was new because I hadn't really had any before that point.  I noticed a few mini spots of water and I just thought I had peed myself a little bit. It was smaller than a quarter size of water. So, I got up on Monday and logged into work (worked from home). I worked a full day, made a pot roast and was busy finishing up some last minute baby things when my husband got home from work. I stood up and noticed a little gush, similar to what I'd experienced on Sunday. I decided to call my OB. Like I thought, she said I should head in to L&D. We took our sweet time and ate dinner, started packing everything up and then I had a HUGE GUSH. There was no question what it was this time. I started having contractions about 3 minutes apart and they were getting pretty painful. Our casual packing turned into a complete frenzy to get out the door.

We got to L&D 40 minutes later and they did an amniotic fluid check. It was positive. In less than 10 minutes they had me started on Pitocin and gave me an epidural. It had now been over 24 hours since I noticed that first leak, and they were concerned about an infection. My temperature was up over 100 so they started me on antibiotics. I was dilated at 1 when we got there, and within 6 hours I was dilated to a 10. I only got to feel the first few strong pitocin contractions, but it was enough for me as they were so intense I couldn't do anything but squeeze my husbands hand and try to remember to breathe. They left me and my husband in the room and we turned out the lights and just waited for it to be time to push. I was so excited and scared that I couldn't sleep, and just thought about how I was going to be holding my little one in my arms in just a few short hours.

They finally told me it was time to push at about 6:20am. Little Mason was born at 9:18am. I was not prepared for 4 hours of pushing, delivering an 8lb 5 oz baby, or the 3rd degree tear that ensued. But, the scariest part was wondering if he would have an infection and be okay. Thank God he is, and he is perfect in every possible way:)
