I was wondering if anyone else was expierincing a high heart rate... For the past week I have been feeling like when I lay down my heart is just racing... I have blamed it on numerous things such as it being hot and so forth... Right now while sitting at my kitchen table looking on facebook I noticed I could count my heartrate just by listening. Not uncommon for the last week and I felt as if it were going to jump out of my chest. When I check it twice it was 124bpm!! Anyone else feeling like this . FTM here wondering if this should be cause for concern of just chalk it up to all the extra blood pumping!
Re: Resting heartrate of 124...
You should tell your OB. That's high and should be checked out. Tachycardia is normal for pregnant women and your heart may be functioning normally, but they might want to check it out to rule out bigger problems.
My resting (SLEEPING) heartrate is 150. But the cardiologist said since everything is functioning normally, that my body just hates being pregnant!
I would monitor it over the weekend and if you are noticing it staying up I would call just to be safe.
I was in the hospital last week for high heart rate. When I was just sitting there (I was nervous) it was 130's so they kept me over night to monitor. Over night while I was in and out of sleep it was anywhere from 90's - 120's. They said that mine is just a little higher than usual due to being pregnant and possibly fighting an infection of some kind. Chances are you are fine and it is just from pregnancy.
I asked my OB's nurse because I'm at high risk for developing Pre E since I'm diabetic and I have PCOS. She said it's normal and not something to worry to much about.
You have understand that the bigger your uterus and baby gets, the more blood flow you need, so your heart has to work harder.
I had a pulse of 125 just the other day standing at work. I was training to work as a med aide so I wasn't even doing anything, just walking a little.
Also stress can cause your pulse to rise. In health care we call it tachycardia when a pulse or heart rate is over 100 beats per minute.
