I'm almost 18 weeks and not showing at all.
Mind you, like most of the posts I read, I'm not a super skinny girl. About 5'2" and 165. I havent even hit that 'fatty' stage most of my friends refer to before their bump popped out. And I've lost 3 pounds in a week...
Does this in any way mean my little girl will be small or delivered early?
Re: 17, almost 18 weeks and NOT SHOWING
I don't think so.
My friend was about 5'3 and weighed 170 and I didn't see any real change in her until she was well past 20 weeks. It's different for everyone. Some women who are smaller show earlier and vice versa.
I'm also 17 weeks, almost 18 weeks and I don't think I'm showing at all. I started off with belly fat and I haven't seen much change in anything, although my DH says he has noticed a difference. I had a doctors appointment today and she said my uterus is still kind of low. Maybe your uterus is just sitting low as well.
Also, maybe ask someone else if you look different. We sometimes don't see it in ourself. I am really excited about seeing the bump too and can't wait but one thing I can tell you, I'm feeling these flutters & pops a lot more frequent now!
With my first pregnancy, I was 5'2" 120lbs (before preg) and I also wasn't showing then, and was easily able to hide my pregnancy from everyone at work. I went on to give birth to a 10lb chunker at 42 weeks, 1 day. So yeah, don't worry about it!
My measurements are exactly the same - until I eat then I feel and look like a stuffed turkey- but I'm not showing AT either. My mother didn't show until 6 months... Who knows when ill pop.
I'm 5'2" and when I found out I was pregnant around 9 weeks I weighed 137 give or take a couple of pounds. I didn't start really showing until week 22-23. Just give it time and it will happen.
Would you send that memo to MY body? It's doing its level best to hang onto every lb it can get!
I'm average size (5'5") and pretty skinny with no real fat on my belly. With my first, I didn't show until 20-21 weeks at least, no one would even say anything until 22-23 weeks. And I ended up huge with my DD and she was 8lb. 6oz. at 4 days early. I wouldn't worry at all.
This time, however, I was showing much earlier, but it's funny because those who don't know I'm pregnant still won't say anything to me.
You and me both sister. I started off about 10 pounds overweight and I WISH I would have had bad enough m/s to get rid of some of that. Blessed with very little m/s, cursed with chubby faux-belly. Sigh.. starting to show for real now though, and I have enough energy to exercise again, thank goodness, so things are leveling out... but yeah, I hear you.
With my first pregnancy (when I was 17 and didn't really want people to know that I was pregnant) I didn't look obviously pregnant to strangers and acquantances until just a week or two before my due date. DD was born at 41w 5 days and weighed 8#2 1/2 oz. Not early and not small.
With this pregnancy, I don't really look pregnant either. I tell myself that I am starting to, but am aware that I really just look fat (and not much fatter than normal.) My dr. said that is totally fine. I have lost a little weight since getting pregnant-maybe ten pounds?-but my dr. said she isn't going to worry about that until I am about 20 weeks or so. Then, she would like to see me gain ten or fifteen pounds before the end of my pregnancy...
I really didn't start showing with DS until I was almost 28 weeks despite the fact of having to wear maternity pants from about 22-24 weeks on.
I have a friend who didn't show AT ALL until she was about 23 weeks. Then it just happened over night for her.
When and how much you show has nothing to do with the size or health of your baby, it has only to do with your body and your uterus' orientation inside your body.
I didn't really show until 22 weeks and even at that people didn't KNOW I was pregnancy probably until 24-25 weeks. now it's pretty obvious.
Hang in there!
I am skinny and didn't show until like 23 weeks. And now when I look at my 23 weeks pictures I laugh. I was barely showing then. Strangers didn't comment until closer to 27 weeks.
My LO is fine and measuring right on track
At 17/18w it was hard for someone to see that I was showing. I'm a petite girl, too. My OB said most people *noticeably* pop between 20-22w so you are still early.
And... as far as I know it doesn't mean she will be small or delivered early. But talk to your OB. A lot of women on here do lose weight so I'm sure there isn't a huge concern.
I'm 20 weeks with my third baby and I am hardly showing. I'm quite tall and fairly thin, and it's still not noticeable to those who don't know me. I never feel like I have a cute pg bump until 25+ weeks.
