When did you start using the Ergo?

DS is a peanut and not even 7 lbs yet. I figure it will be a while. Is the infant insert worth the $$. Thanks!

Re: When did you start using the Ergo?

  • We started using ours when E was 2 weeks old. He barely weighed 7lbs.

  • I love the ergo with the insert. DD was probably 7 pounds when we started using it also.

  • Thanks!  Were you guys using the infant insert?  I don't have it.  If so, how long did you use the insert. Thanks!  I'm trying to decide if I should go buy it today. I need my hands to my toddler!  :)

  • You can try putting baby in swaddled, "sitting" in a receiving blanket in the bottom to lift him higher.

Or just buy the insert. If the Ergo is your only carrier, go buy the insert. I didn't use my Ergo until about 3.5 months because I didn't get the insert (I had other carriers, though).

Thanks. I have the Moby but I'm just excited to use the Ergo. 3 months sounds about when I figured I could use it.

  • At 3 weeks and 8 lbs we used the insert for a short hike.

We are still using the insert at 8 weeks and 11 lbs.  I would say it's worth it.  Maybe you can find a gently used one?   Good luck!

  • I still use the insert and DS is 12 pounds and 3 months old.

We started using it almost right away. DS was about 7 pounds.
