Addressing issues with daycare

I keep seeing things I don't like and I don't think I am being picky. Being placed on her tummy to nap today. Do I address it with the teachers or director?

Ive also seen them microwave bottles which is a big no no with the state.

  • She had a blanket over her head too.

  • I'd address it with both the teachers and director.  I personally put everything in writing too, like a little note reminding them of your wishes (please do not put blankets in the crib, nap on back, etc.)

  • In home? Pull her immediately and report to the state.

Center? I'd report them to the state but not necessarily pull her out - I'd talk to the director first.

  • Wow, those are some pretty big problems in my mind. In a center I would be talking to the director ASAP. You can reference your atate's guidelines if need be, but make it very very clear that those are NOT acceptable practices with your child- or really any other!

  • Don't be afraid to speak up at all. Those are serious issues. I've learned that as long as it's a reasonable request, daycare workers will comply. I also suggest doing a surprise drop by after you make said requests to check to make sure things are being done correctly. If they won't comply, or you find similar, or other issues, I'd pull. My daughter is in her third daycare. There are just some things you don't mess with.
