Rec a Sausage Ball recipe

OK, so I signed up to bring sausage balls to a mom event next week. Mostly because was craving them, not because I've EVER made them : ) Pregnancy is running my life. Anyone an expert at making these? Please share you recipe and any baking tips associated for the perfect ball!!

Re: Rec a Sausage Ball recipe

  • Someone made some for a book club meeting a while back. I'd never had them before or since, but they were delicious. And I think about them a lot. And I'm not PG... MrsAJL maybe??

  • Sausage Balls (how I make them)

16 oz breakfast sausage (in the tube or in bulk)
1.5 cups of Bisquik or other biscuit mix
4 cups cheddar cheese (sharp tastes best!)

Combine. Roll in to balls. Bake on ungreased baking sheet for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool a bit (about 5 minutes) before serving. Yields about 3 dozen balls.

SMB made them for one of the book club meetings.

I make them the same way, I just don't really measure anything. I just eyeball it. They're pretty hard to mess up. :-)

  • My recipe:

2 pounds sausage (I use two tubes of jimmy dean, one hot, one regular)

    2 cups sharp cheddar

    3 cups bisquick

Combine it all in a big bowl (you have to use your hands and really work it together), roll into balls and bake at 350 for 15-18 minutes.
