Cloth Diapering

Stink and stain issues... HELP!

I've got a variety of issues going on here and I just don't know where to start. My issues are all with fitted diapers. I have one with a horrendous sewage smell as soon as DD wets it. Another has a darkish poo stain. Two others have a combination of poo smell and poo residue - almost like the poo is stuck in the fibers of the velour. Those two I scrubbed by hand to remove the residue and it's still there. My usual wash routine is every other day, cold rinse, hot wash, double cold rinse. I use Rockin Green. My wash routine and detergent have always been the same, so I'm not sure why this has just started happening over the last couple of days. Any suggestions??

 Thanks mamas!

  • Yeah, poo smell means not enough detergent. Have you started solids? How are you pre-cleaning the poo diapers before your wash?

We have been on solids for a while but we're doing BLW so I think now she's starting to actually swallow much more of it. I have to admit, I'm not super diligent about rinsing poos right away. Most of the time I set it in the laundry sink and then deal with it when it's time to wash. So that could be either later that night or the next night. That could be part of my problem.

So I guess my question now is how do I fix it? Just rewash with more detergent?

Solid poo is not water soluble. You'll need to remove as much of it as possible before you wash. Either scrape or spray into the toilet. You might benefit from using liners if you can't rinse within a few hours. Hopefully you'll get to the plopable stage soon.
