Stupid shopping logistics question

It has been so long since my first baby that I feel like a complete idiot when it comes to certain things.

So, I know it is a huge no-no to put the baby carrier on the front of the cart at the grocery.  What do you moms do when you go grocery or Target shopping?  Where do you put the baby?  Should I just use a Moby or Bjorn?

Re: Stupid shopping logistics question

  • The other day I put E in her carseat in the basket part of the cart and put things around her.  She's not big enough for the Moby yet, but when she is I plan on wearing her while I'm shopping.  DH and I both went grocery shopping on Monday so he pushed the cart and I pushed E in her stroller :)

  • I was thinking of just putting her in the basket of the cart.  I need to watch my Moby DVD...it looks so confusing.  It is like 50 ft of fabric!

  • I think this should be a PSA post, not sure how many mom's know how dangerous it can be to prop the carrier on the front.  I work at a pediatric hospital and not too long ago heard of a death related to this.

This!  The only safe place to put a carrier on the cart is inside the actual cart.  There was a big story like 6 months ago about an infant who died because the carrier fell off the cart when it was placed on top of the child seat part.

I read about that when it happened and cried.  That was the first time I have heard of that.  So I guess it really isn't a stupid question, since many people don't know.  I have also read about the people who put them in an upside down highchair and how dangerous that is too.

  • I'm glad I read this, I probably sound stupid, but I didn't know to not put the carrier in the front... Now I know though!!

  • A lot of stores in our area (Target and the grocery stores) have some carts with built-in infant carriers.  I never use them (the cart still seems top-heavy to me), but at least it's an option.
