So we've managed to live 10 months without the need for a humidifier. DD had only gotten sick once, and it was just the sniffles. Now, she's all congested and it starting to cough with a lot of phlegm. I'm heading out tonight to get some more supplies for her anyways, so I'd like to also get a humidifier.
Which one do you use? Where did you get it? Do you like it? Any I should stay away from? Thanks!
Re: Recommend your humidifier
We have one of the animal ones (the frog) made by Crane. It's cool mist only. I got it at BRU with one of their 20% off coupons.
I like it fine...I mean, it works. To be honest, I've never owned a humidifier before this one, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.
It's a little annoying to clean but I guess that's true of any good humidifier.
Oh, I will say that before buying this one, DH bought a drugstore brand one, and it leaked like crazy. At least this one doesn't do that!
We have a crane elephant. We have been using it since we started using the heater in the house because the air gets so dry. We use it every night and are getting one for the living room and our room as well.
Live had no problems with the crane one. A pain to clean the basin, but that'd be true with any of them. It's quiet, doesn't leak.

We have a crane frog and had a penguin (got lost in the move). I'm actually going to target to replace the frog today. I've been bad and using tap water which = calcium build up on the inside.
They have a long filter thingy you replace the screw cap with and some little balls you put in to keep the water fresh. I have both of those and my machine doesn't get slimy or icki.
We'll see which animal H picks out
