Went to my regular OB appt today, but saw a different doctor since I have to do the rotation for delivery. I did not like the doctor I saw at all today, and she said all the total opposite things my doctor said two weeks ago. I have GD, so I started insulin two days ago and am already being monitored by the high risk doctor at Maternal Fetal Medicine, but now this doctor wants me to come in twice a week to my regular office for NST's and then I have a growth scan every week at MFM. I feel fine and have had no issues up to this point. She told me that I won't work more than another 2 weeks. All she did was the normal 5 min appt to measure and listen to baby. How does she know all this in 5 min? I can't wait until next Friday when I meet with my regular OB again!
Re: NST's now scheduled 2 times a week - vent :(

Baby Evangeline is here!
It's completely normal for someone with GD. Your MD should have explained why this is important to you. If they didn't then I would be more then happy to exain it to you but I'm bumping from my phone.
Sorry your bothered by this by its what you have to do to make sure your LO is safe in there. You don't have to feel anything for your placenta to fail. A reactive NST means that your baby should be good for the next 48 hours that's why they are done 2 times a week.
It's important to ask these questions of your dr. so you don't feel like your wasting your time. It's important to understand the risks of your situation and how to prevent or catch issues early.
Good luck

What the other ladies have said! I'm type 1 and at 32 weeks I have to come in twice a week for monitoring plus my MFM appointment. The reason they do it is because in all pregnant diabetic women the placenta matures faster. So if your placenta isn't doing it's job, they will be able to get baby out promptly.
Honestly, I'd be upset too if someone didn't tell me. I had a high risk OBGYN wanting me to come in twice a week to be monitored for 2 hours each time. I switched to a different high risk OBGYN because my regular OBGYN agreed with me that it was over kill.
However, I do think the whole work restriction is a bit much, but I want to work up until closer to my due date.
