I just got a call from my doctors office, and the blood work from my last appointment shows I have a pretty serious vitamin D deficiency. She told me to start taking 1,000 IU daily, and to come back next week to see if it has gone up at all. I [mistakenly] googled the effects of vitamin D deficiency and pregnancy and now I'm kindof worried.
Anyone else go through this and find that the supplements helped?

Re: Seriously Vitamin D Deficient
My RE has me taking 4,000 iu daily because studies have shown that it reduces the chance of pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes.

I had already started taking 2000 iu supplements when I read that reduced chance of pre-e (which I had with DS). My DH was pushing the supplement because of all the great things he's heard about it, so anywhere between 2000 and 4000 is good. I wouldn't worry. My feeling is if they're telling you to take a supplement, it must help. I hope you keep us updated though, GL!

That's about where my level is, so hopefully the supplements will help! She told me to take just 1000, but i might take 2 or 3 just in case.
