Will you cruise?

After the cruise tragedy do you feel comfortable going on one?

Re: Will you cruise?

  • Sure.   Horrible freak accidents happen all the time.  It was a random tragedy, and an isolated incident.   It's probably way riskier to drive a car, but I still do that every day anyway.

  • I've been wary of them even before this, I just hear of people getting food poisoning, going missing, dying....and now this.  It just confirms that a cruise isn't something on my bucket list.  Not saying I wouldn't do it someday, but it's not something I want/have to do.

  • Yes! I LOVE them and there is a better chance of me having an accident in my car.

  • H wants to go on one.  He went many years ago and thinks I need to go..  Im a little unsure but told him if it was a Disney one Id go  LOL
  • Absolutely, my family and I just went on one last August. It was so much fun, and I never felt in any danger.... and it was a Carnival cruise. They were very strict about doing the muster drill before we ever set sail.

  • Cruising isn't my cup of tea.  I'd prefer to be stationed on a beach rather than in the ocean.

If I did like to go on cruises I don't think that the accident would change my mind.  I'm probably worse off driving than I would be on a boat!

  • No, I don't think so.

It's not even that this tragedy has really changed my mind one way or another, but the thought of being on a ship isn't appealing to me. I would rather go somewhere and be able to do other things if I so choose. I know they're ginormous and have a lot of things to choose from, but they just aren't for DH and I.

  • Of course we will still cruise.  One accident doesn't stop me, just like one plane crash/bus crash/car crash doesn't stop me from flying/riding the bus/driving my car.

  • yes things happen... we drive everyday and have a better chance of being killed that way.

Have fun on your vacacy! Where will you be going?

  • Yup.  I love cruises!  Airplanes crash and that doesn't mean I'm not going to fly anymore either.
  • Yes, I love them. I've been on 5 and can't wait to do another :)

  • Of course. I am more scared of dying because of my own bad driving then I am of dying on any cruise ship or airplane.
  • If it was my only vacation choice? Sure.  Accidents like this aren't the norm, they are accidents.  But honestly, I'm not a cruise fan.  We have gone on a couple, and I just prefer a different type of vacation.
  • Without a doubt. We love them!

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.

  • Definitely, cruises are awesome!  I'd love to take another one before LO #2 comes along but doubt that will happen.

Besides, accidents like that happen all the time- plane crashes, car crashes, train crashes, etc.  I'd never leave the house if all that stuff scared me, ya know?

  • I've never been on one but the news definitely will not defer me. I'm actually planning to go one one for our anniversary/babymoon in June. I am hoping that there will be some crazy discounts since others will be afraid to cruise.

  • No it wouldn't change my mind.  I really enjoy cruising and have been on a few.  It's not the only type of vacation I ever want to do but every few years they are great fun.

  • We just got off a cruise on January 8th. I absolutely feel comfortable going on another one. I wouldn't go on a Costa cruise, but we've been on Royal Caribbean several times and it has been excellent and I feel safe with all the passenger and crew safety drills.

We're hoping our next one will be a Disney cruise with the LO in 2015. :)

  • I love love love cruising!!! The crash will not stop me from going again. If anything they just got safer after this crash. I been on 12 cruise all with Carnival. One of the cruise in spring of 2006 did loss power for a hour which even that was not bad at all. We just had a party in the hall way and before we knew it power was back on. Cruise is how my family see each other every year around Christmas and make lasting memories. The last one we had a group of 24 people. It was from January 2-7th. I would never want to stop cruising!!!

This story started at band camp on Sept. 6, 2002, when to people meet. Married on Nov. 14, 2009.

This is my school of thought.  I get severe seasickness, so cruising is not really my idea of a great time.  I would much rather fly and then park myself on a beach.

This accident would not stop me from going on a cruise though.  When a plane crashes, it doesn't stop me from flying.

  • We're going on a cruise in April. It was initially for our anniversary, but it looks like it'll now be a babymoon as well. Cruises are my favorite way to travel!

Thanks!  We'll be going to the Western Caribbean:  Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Island of Roatan, and Belize City.  I'm so excited.  It's going to be our big 5th anniversary trip.
