Has your daycare cost gone down

DD just moved into her 3rd class and the rate hasn't change. According to the tuition sheet that I received when she started, as they get older the rates go down but last time they told me that the rates went up so there won't be a change. Yesterday I asked the front desk how much the new class is so I can make a payment and she says it's the same. WTF, I left a message for the director to call me.

  • Yes, the cost went down with each classroom change. When he moved to the preschool room, there was a rate increase at the same time, so it didn't go down by as much, but it still went down about $5 per week or something.

  • Yes, it goes down every year however every year they raise prices 2-5%. I would expect the rates to go down as the ratios of kids to teachers increases each year. There was a about a $100 drop from 1.5-2.5 room going into the 2.5-3.5 room this year and that is with her going 3 days a week. However you then have to pay a $60 a month diapering fee in the new room until the child goes 30 days without an accident at school. This wasn't a big deal for us as DD potty trained the week after she started in the new room but it would bum me out of my child wasn't ready for potty training.

  • DD goes to a preschool and is in the toddler room until she turns 3. Once she is 3 and joins the actual preschool, the rate drops by $75 a month.

  • It's gone down, but not much.  It dropped $4 per week when she went from 2 to 3.  They just sent out a letter saying that instead of raising tuition, they're taking away our 2 weeks of vacation.  Which sucks, but at least the rates won't be going up.

  • Ours went down just when she left the youngest class--18mo-3yr, because of diapering, but has gone up every year due to cost increases. We get a letter every year explaining it. Ask the front desk for a sheet listing all the new prices so you don't just have to rely on what they tell you, but you actually have a paper you can refer to.

  • Yes, ours has gone down with each room change. However, like the PP's said, there have also been yearly tuition increases so the decreases haven't been a huge amount.
