Adoption

Open Arms Adoption

Hi All,

I am new to the board, but have been lurking for a while.  This board is really an awesome resource for those of us TTA!  DH and I had a failed adoption in November, and we are starting the process over again after much healing, prayer and discussion.  I am much more nervous this time around because I know how badly things can end, especially if you have the wrong people "helping" you.

We are looking into a few agencies and an advertising network.  I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Open Arms Adoption Network in Philadelphia, PA.  Any information would be appreciated!

Thanks!

  • I don't have any experience with this agency, but I wanted to say Welcome to the board and Good Luck!

  • Thanks, Christine.

I am finding that beginning the process again is much more scary than the first time around.  After emotionally and financially supporting a birthmother, and developing a relationship with her and her family, only to have her change her mind (which is certainly her right, but she did it in such a heartless way), I worry that we won't be able to trust anyone else.

     We are staying positive though!

  • I haven't heard of them, but would check them out on the Yahoo adoption research group if I were you.

    Good luck!

  • We went to a meeting with them in South Jersey. I felt they were upfront about a lot of things, good and bad. They pointed out that Pennsylvania birth mothers had 30 days to change their mind about the adoption, and NJ BMs had three. Most of their birthmoms are from PA. It's a relatively new, but small, adoption program, from what I remember (like a couple of years). HTH

  • Doodlebug did you end up using open arms?
  • I have no information about Open Arms, but I want to say WELCOME and that I am really sorry about your previous match!
Good Luck with this new journey!!!
