I've had a really easy pg and haven't expierenced any BH that I'm aware of. The last couple of nights I've noticed some lower abd/pelvic cramping similar to menstural cramps. In the past these cramps have always happened when LO has been moving around but the last two nights I've noticed that I've had them w/out her moving around.
Last night I also noticed that along with the cramps my uterus gets really tight feeling. The tightness doesn't really hurt but it's there. The cramps and tightness have continued off and on all day today. Not super painful but enough to make me aware of it. I've also had some lower back pain the last few days, and I'm not sleeping the greatest. Some days my hips hurt and some days they dont.
I was going to ask my dr about the cramps/tightness this afternoon, however, my appt has been canceled due to the stupid snow storm Western Washington got hit with the last couple of days. I can call the on call dr but thought I'd ask you ladies first.
Re: Are these BH or could it be pre labor?
Probably both!
It could be prelabor. I had these cramps after my water broke and they sent me home because they thought they were Braxton hicks since they were not timeable. I went back to the hospital 2 hours later because the intensity was increasing and I was 5cm!! My contractions never were timeable, they were pretty scattered but I progressed fast.
I've been having these at night when I have to pee. They just started a couple nights ago. I think mine are just BH at this point, but if yours have continued on and off throughout the day, it may be prelabor!!

I spoke with my Bradley instructor (who's also a doula) just a few mintues ago and she said either way it was a good sign and my body's gearing up for labor.
The cramps and tightness have continued all day but not in any sort of pattern that I can tell. The cramps usually only last about 15 to mabye 30 seconds but the tightness can last a minute or more.
This is all so frustrating! As a FTM I have no idea what to expect. Add in the fact that I have Fibromyalgia and I'm used to living with chronic pain. I usually feel pain come on but then do my best to ignore it so I can continue with daily activities. I'm not used to paying attention to how long the pain lasts or how frequently it's happening.
I'm in Port Orchard and we have about 4 inches. My dad called this evening to say that one of their large maple trees split down the middle and now has to be cut down. The snow and ice they got in Tacoma was just too much for the tree. The other huge maple lost several branches as well. Thankfully the only damage to their house was some flashing that came off the roof.
I've had the cramping and tightness all day. It's been uncomfortable but not painful. Hopefully this is some type of progress and I'll go into actual labor soon. I'd hate to contiue to have these pains for the next week or two.
