Around what age will LO NOT need:

1. those plastic bibs while they eat

2. onesies

3. the highchair

4. to sleep in a crib

I'm trying to figure out if I need to get more. The bibs are getting funky and I'm not sure if I need to get the next size up in onesies.

Re: Around what age will LO NOT need:

  • DD will be in onesies as long as possible. I hate putting pants/shorts on her. I just bought her some in size 18 month.

I think (?) you can start with a big kid bed around 2, but it all depends on your kid. Some will be ready at that point, some won't. DD will be 17 months when the new baby comes, so we will be getting a second crib.

  • 1. I've never used those bibs. We use cheap cloth ones and Aiden still uses them occasionally (when he wants to) He stopped needing them at about 18 months.

    2. HATE onesies. Emily wears them once in a blue moon. You can buy them up to size 24 months though. At least that's as big as I've seen them.

3 & 4: I was told by multiple people to keep them in both a crib and highchair as long as possible. I 110% agree with this now. Once we put Aiden in a big boy chair with no restraint, keeping him at the table to finish a meal has been a huge PITA, and once you take them out getting them back in without a major tantrum is a miracle.

We bought another crib when Em was born because they're 18 months apart. We switched A's crib to a toddler bed when he turned 2 and I wish to God we would have just left it a crib until he was climbing out of it. Again it's just easier to keep them contained.

Of course every kid is different. And some are perfectly capable of sitting through an adult meal at the table and staying in bed at night (unlike my crazy child)

Yeah, doubt mine will fit in that category too. This was helpful though - thank you!!

I feel the same way - just because his shirt always rides up and it's freakin' freezin' around here!

I agree with all this. I would personally buy another crib. But SIL's kids will be the same age difference and your LO's and she plans on switching baby A to a toddler bed shortly before baby b is born. So some people do do it. If you don't want to buy another high chair you could always consider a booster seat with straps.?

Oh, it wasn't about whether or not to buy another one. JT's crib goes to a toddler bed anyway so we'll be getting a whole new set for the new LO. And I was trying to figure out if I need 2 highchairs in my dining room...but I realized that the one I have is a 4 in 1 so I can remove the top part of the high chair and sit it on a dining room chair so that makes saving space a lot better.

DD pulls her shirts up and flashes the world. She also likes to chew on whatever decoration is on them so they get all wet. Yea, no thanks. I'll delay that happening as much as I can :p

  • 1) i love onesies, so p will be in them until i can't squeeze him into them any longer

    2) for the bibs-i know my niece still occasionally wears one & she just turned 2. it's normally when my sil needs to make sure she stays stain free (if they're going somewhere immediately after eating or if they're out somewhere nice & she's dressed cute).

    3) for the crib-we're going to put baby 2 in the pnp for a while (until he'd outgrow the bassinet feature). p was only about 3 mns old when he hit 15lbs so we didn't get as much use out of it as we thought we would. we're figuring we'll see how long baby 2 is in the pnp in case p would be ready for a big boy bed, but they'll only be 14 mns apart, so i dont see it happening, we'll most likely end up with 2 cribs. (fyi though, my parents moved my brother to a bed when he was 20 mns old b/c they were passing the crib on for a cousin & he was just a good sleeper, they weren't worried about him-but that's not common).

    4) for high chairs, we'll keep p in it as long as possible but we do have a booster we're planning on moving him to when baby 2 is ready for foods. he eats in it when we go out for dinner so he's already used to it.
