[clicky poll]Would you schedule an induction?

This is for everyone- outside babies or not!

I went to my doctors appointment today and my doc said as of tomorrow I could go ahead and schedule an elective induction. As in... sure, whenever you feel like it, we'll do it! I'm waiting till next week...I would feel silly to induce before my due date, especially since he isn't engaging and is still floating up around my ribs.

Re: [clicky poll]Would you schedule an induction?

  • Today is my due date, and I got a call from my doc's office to schedule an induction for next Thursday morning (exactly 41 weeks)! Hopefully he decides to come sooner, but I'm soooo ready!! I have an appointment tomorrow morning, we'll see if I've made any progress (as of last week I was 1cm and still really high)

  • My doctor will not let me go over 41 weeks so I said go to 41 weeks.
  • I was torn, because YES GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME is tempting but I would honestly wait until 41 weeks.

I know I'm only 38 weeks but I was put on bed rest last week and I hate using up my leave time before he gets here. I use to scoff at the idea of scheduling an induction, but I can totally understand now!

  • This one has me on the fence.  My baby is getting bigger by the minute and the talk of induction vs. not has come up in my last 3 doctor's visits.  My doctor's office does NOT like to induce FTMs unless it is medically necessary.  When they first decided at 37 weeks that LO was likely measuring big they scheduled a growth u/s to see about where he was size wise but assured me that even if he was crazy big, they wouldn't make any decisions before 39 weeks.

Well, at 37 weeks LO was measuring 9lbs 3oz.  Holy smokes!  My next growth u/s is tomorrow at just over 39 weeks and I was told we would re-evaluate at that point.  I'm not going to lie.  I was hoping to have gone into labor on my own before that appt just so I wouldn't have to make a decision.

If they measure him at over 10lbs I will likely ask to be induced because I really don't want to have a c-section and I fear that the longer he stays put and the bigger he gets, the more likely I am to end up in surgery.

So, I'm on the fence really.  I really do NOT want to get induced.  I would love to go into labor on my own when LO is ready, but at the same time, how big could this little guy truly get if I let him just stay put as long as he wants?   Ughhh....why can't he just decide he is ready today?
