I hate Beyonce

Who the hell does she think she is? Has anyone heard that she closed an entire hospital down for her stupid delivery? No one was allowed to see their babies or anything. I don't usually give a crap what celebrities are doing, but REALLY???

  • I heard it was just one floor.  But it was making it difficult for people to get in to see their babies, although I'm not sure why the babies would be on that floor if it was shur down...  Hmmm...

  • BTW, OP...I don't like Beyonce anyway, but I think a lot of this is rumor driven. Last I heard the hospital was cleared of any wrongdoing.

    Story here.

I suspect the one couple that talked to the press was blowing it out of proportion. No one else that was there at the time complained.

  • I actually did hear this. Dr's were kept from their L&D patients who were there before the "lock down" and NICU parents were not allowed in to see their LO's for a few hours...

ETA: If there were really accurate I think the hospital would have been in deep sh*t and from what I know they didn't get in trouble. It may have been a headache for parents, but I doubt it is as bad as some of the gossip makes it out to be.

  • Me too!  Yes, the article was in the New York papers.  A dad was not allowed to re enter the L&D floor for up to 20 min after his wife had their twins.  He is livid and can't replay that moment in life ever again.   Sad.

  • My husband sent me a link to an article shortly after it happened: https://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/10/nyregion/after-birth-by-beyonce-patients-protest-celebrity-security-at-lenox-hill-hospital.html

I wouldn't go so far as to say that I hate Beyonce, but I do think the security was a little extreme, considering other parents had babies that they wanted/needed to see.

    Pass the sheet cake.

  • Yeah, you're famous. Great for you, good job. But does the entire world have to stop so you can give birth? I never liked her either, and this made me dislike her even more. So self absorbed... it's ridiculous.

  • I heard that it was one trillion floors and that cats who shoot laser beams from their yes were prowling the corridors and obliterating anything that moved unless they knew the password which was "suck it, Taylor Swift!"

The cats are now being auctioned off for charity... A good one that will make everyone like them again.

  • I don't believe tabloids. I wasnt there so I can't say much. Don't let things like these get to you...maybe it didnt even happen.
  • Their security was closing specific hallways as they went down them and such.  The entire hospital was not shut down.
  • Ummmmm... the baby was born almost 2 weeks ago, what cave have you been living in?

Do you believe EVERY rumor you hear in the media?...wow.

  • I always have disliked her I heard the rumors but read the press release, seems the security made things a lil slower but she didn't intact rent out the whole floor.  Either way I find her obnoxious.

    This!

The hospital released a statement that they had received NO complaints from other patients in the hospital. If, for some reason, there was a momentary inconvenience, big f-ing deal. There are a million different reasons why a parent may be inconvenienced in a hospital. Their primary concern is the PATIENT, not the father of a patient. And in the case of Beyonce, she was a patient and her daughter was a patient. The guy was just a visitor.

The twin babies of the dad who "couldn't see his babies for up to 20 minutes" were actually born the WEDNESDAY before (this delay in visiting supposedly happened Friday night when she was admitted) so it's not like he lost those first few minutes with his children.

  • My friend was the mom of the twins in NICU. They didn't shut down the floor, but did tell parents that if they left the NICU, they may not be allowed back in. There were black out curtains in the NICU so her entourage could move about freely, some family in the waiting room were escorted from the building, and the father was barred from walking in the hallway to the NICU. One other family did come forward.

The thing that concerned me the most was that some security cameras were covered. That would scare the crap out of me, especially since I've been told many NICU babies don't have the alarm bracelets that most newborns in the nursery do.

There were investigations into the complaints, and the hospital was not found at fault. However, there was a big headache for a few families being pushed around by the private security company, but it is all done now. Their concern was not Beyonce's baby, it was their children in the NICU. Sad that things like this have to happen.

I have to say, if you were told by some random security guard that was not affiliated with the hospital that your preemie babies (born at 34 weeks) in the NICU were off limits, even for a short amount of time, you'd be livid as well.   Would think pregnant women would have more compassion for a new father being told he can't see his sick daughters...

No, I don't think I WOULD be livid. I think I would go get some lunch, or make a phone call, or visit my wife, who was also in the hospital having just given birth to twins for a few minutes until they opened the area back up. The NICU staff was still there taking care of the children, it isn't as if the babies were being denied care because of this inconvenience, it was just the father (who is NOT sick or a patient of the hospital and was simply a visitor) who wasn't able to go to the NICU for a few minutes.

  • What a spoiled brat.  If she feels entitled to that much privacy, she should have had a home birth.  Lord knows she could have afforded to build a freaking L&D ward in her own backyard.

    LOL, this made me laugh.

I think a lot of that was the media and rumors swirling out of control. It was one floor and I heard that nobody was kept from seeing their babies, that it was all just media hype. If they had done that...they would have major lawsuits on their hands. I'm sure the hospital decision makers are smarter than that.

This!! What is it about Beyonce that means they no longer need security cameras at the hospital? If any other patient requested they be removed or covered the hospital would have laughed in their faces.

Bottom line, I think she should have been treated like pretty much any other patient. She's a famous singer. She's no diplomat or world leader. If she doesn't like the policy, she could have EASILY had anything she wanted at her own house or at another facility.

It sounds like a lot of the initial rumors about parents being denied access to their children is pretty unfounded. But that doesn't mean the hospital handled it as they should have. I don't happen to think that "Blue Ivy" is anymore important than my LO so I'm just glad I wasn't personally caught up in any of the drama.

  • I'm not sure what happened. It's hard to really believe anything you read these days. Truthfully though, if these were her requests, I think they're way over the top. However, I'm more disappointed in the hospital for allowing money and fame to mean this much such that they are willing to inconvenience parents of other newborns.

  • Some people also believe that she wasn't even the one who had the baby, that she had a surrogate... That could also explain why they covered the cameras if that's true..

  • Simple fix, if you need this much privacy, have the kid at home. To anyone who thinks this was okay, try putting yourself or SO in that situation and imagine how irritated you would be. I assume she has a vag just like all other women, (then again she is Beyonce *eyes roll*),  so her kid popping out of it shouldn't be treated any more special than the next womans. The bottom line is that everyone thinks their LO is the most special baby in the hospital, no one should be made to feel like that isnt the case.

    This!!

I watched an interview on you tube that she did when she was suppose to pregnant. The baby bump she was suppose to have was fake, because she sat down an the belly start to crumble an fold as she begin to sit. I believe this rumor tho.

  • YEah I seriously dont understand her thinking either... Most celebs go away to have their babies. Why couldnt she go to sweeden or something lol .... The disturbing part is that she also paid the hospital 10million dollars for a luxary baby suite renovation, this is why they allowed her to have special treatment. It is currently under investigation (cant remmeber who is investiagting)... But if it is true really screwed 'up.

  • The article that I read verified that it was one entire floor. The floor that it happened to be the hallways also lead to the NICU. She required all staff members to be completely patted down by her goons, all cell phones cameras, removed and unavailable on that part of the floor, had the security camera's taped off (which is a big bunch of bullshit, those are for hospital policy). And even one man had a child in NICU, that her goons followed around twice while he was trying to get to his child.

I dont give  a Sh*t who you are, those types of things shouldn't be allowed. Especially the security cameras. Or having her goons walking all around an entire floor. They should be limited to the room that she is in, and if she leaves the room and thats all.
