When was your first OB appt?

So I found out we were expecting on the 6th of January (our first!). I called my doctors and they scheduled my first appointment for Feb 3rd with a nurse and Feb 17th with the midwife. It seems like everyone is going to the doctors right after they got a positive result.. just wondering if others were further out like mine? I just want to make sure Im not missing out on something. I had mentioned how I just took an over the counter test and the woman on the phone said that was all they would do at this time and usually see patients for their first visit around 9 then 11 weeks.

This is how the midwives I go to work too.

This time though I am going to refuse the "nurse education visit" until after we have an ultrasound and know that everything is okay with baby....last time they kept sending me "educational" materials on my pregnancy after I had already miscarried.

My first appoint is 1/31, and I'll be 7 weeks, but that is only because I have a previous loss. My next appointment (which would be my first one if I didn't have a loss) is 2/17. My OB doesn't like to see you before 8-9 weeks.

My first appt is Feb 2 and I'll be 8w5d. My office said they usually don't do a first appt until 8-10 weeks and I'm pretty sure that was the same with my other pg's. I think a lot of the early appts are for those who have had previous losses or high-risk.

I got my BFP on New Year's Day and my appointment is not until Feb 6th. I have no history of losses or anything that requires me to be seen earlier than my u/s on the 6th.

My first appt isn't until I am almost 9 weeks (Feb 10). Although, i did go in for blood work 3 times because of 3 prior miscarriages... but I didn't actually have an appt with a doctor or midwife.

My 1st appt/ u/s will be on Tuesday at 5weeks but I have had a miscarriage before so my OB wants to do an early one to make sure everything is ok. I think it depends on each individual situation. Normally my Dr would do the first appt at 6 wks and the 1st u/s at 10wks.

My first ob appt will be at 8 Weeks. My visit last week was "pregnancy confirmation" where you just pee in a cup. I guess people around here don't know how to properly take a pregnancy test so the drs want to see for themselves? I suspect it's just to charge an extra office visit though...

I'll be going in for my first visit on 2/6 at 8 weeks 5 days. I have no idea what to expect from this appointment other than it'll be about 40 minutes.

I had my first appointment at 5.5 weeks. The only reason I went in so early is because I am high risk this time due to complications with my first pregnancy. With my first pregnancy they pulled me in at 9 weeks. I think this is fairly common. They can see more at 9 weeks and usually can spot a heartbeat at this time. Which I think is why they wait until 9 weeks.

I know it's hard. I hated waiting that long last time!!! Killed me!

At the ob? Not until 8-9w.

Im under an re's care now, so I'll have three betas and two ultrasounds prior to graduating to the ob.

I got a surprise BFP yesterday and I'm going in to my RE today at 5w5d for bloodwork and an u/s, I doubt I'll see the heartbeat today, but I've had 3 losses, including one that was an ectopic so I always go in early to make sure the pregnancy is in fact in my uterus, so hopefully, I'll at least see a sac in the right spot today. I'll probably have 2 more u/s with the RE then on to OB at 8 weeks and I do an u/s with her too.

well thats all good to here. Thanks for the responses! I guess we are pretty much on track.. I just can't wait any longer! Also KILLING me keeping it from coworkers and friends. But we want to wait until 12 weeks.

Most of the earlier appointments are because of prior losses or complications. Normally, the first appointment would take place around 8 weeks or so.

My office doesn't see anyone until between 8-10 weeks. I am going in tomorrow at 7 weeks because of a previous loss.

With my last pregnancy I had a different doctor. That office only did 1 ultrasound at 20 weeks, but the first appointment was earlier, around 6 weeks I think, for background, bloodwork and general questions and stuff. It was with the NP I think.
