Hi, my name is Wendy and I'm 38. I have 3 children ages 7,12, and 17 and we are looking to start all over with #4!! I am divorced and my SO is 34, we will be married in May and want to start trying right away.
I was on BCP without periods for 4 years and then had the Mirena put in a few months ago with no periods but light spotting the first month, had it removed last Tuesday. I started bleeding on Thursday and it seemed like a normal period but I don't know if it was a period or just from having the iud removed.
Would an ovulation kit tell me anything next week or do you think I have to wait a month or two to start tracking things?
Seeing that I was much younger with the other 3 is there anything I should be doing or getting tested for at this point? I have started taking a multi-vitamin daily but that's it.
Re: Can I join you ladies??
Your hormones will likely still show some effects, but I guess it can't hurt to start with the opk and charting. At the very least it will get you used to the routine.
Testing: I spoke with my obgyn about this recently at my yearly appointment (I will be 37 next month). All of the routine stuff checked out OK, and since my af is pretty regular, she saw no need to testing. She advised me to continue to keep track and if I had any questions, or if anything odd happened, to give her a call. If you haven't spoken about this with your obgyn, I'd say start there and see what happens.
