Once again I have to sit out a cycle because of cysts on my left ovary. After spending all day yesterday on the phone getting my authorizations and then getting the injectables (my insurance covered last cycle but does not cover for this year due to policy changes so I am now OOP) I have another canceled cycle. I feel like I keep returning to the same spot that I was over 12 years ago.
On the bright side, I came clean to my boss. I have meetings that could be impacted by the monitoring next cycle. She was super supportive and told me stories about her friend that did not go for monitoring, overstimulated, and ended up in the hospital for a month with complications. We are hiring a backup so that someone can cover the meetings if I have appointments. That person can also help me with my work now to lessen the stress of my job.
Re: Stupid cysts - vent
Sorry about the cysts. That's frustrating.
I'm glad your boss is being understanding about your monitoring appointments. It must feel good to have her in the loop so she knows what you're going through.
Sending you good mojo so the cysts are taken care of and that they don't come back.
Good news about work! Your boss sounds awesome.

I am so sorry about the cysts, I feel like this is happening to me about every other cycle and it's so very, very frustrating.
I'm glad that your boss had such a good response to you coming clean about everything, especially since you say that she is usually anything but awesome. I'm sure it will ease up on some of the stress surrounding this whole process, and every little bit helps.
One question about the cysts...when I have had mine (including one this cycle), my doctor has me take a shot of ovidrel to force ovulation and "purge" the cysts but makes it so I don't have to wait the whole month before my next cycle starts, it's only 2 weeks later. The downside to this is that I get my period twice in 2 weeks, but at least the waiting is shorter.
Has your doctor prescribed this ever for you?
The ovadryl is a good thought but I don't think that it would work for me. I have a history of ruptured cysts so it is better for me to go on the BCP and wait it out for a cycle. I have been waiting for 12 years, what is one more cycle, right?
I'm sorry to hear that your cycle was cancelled. Hopefully next month will be better for you.
Thats great news about getting a back up to help with your workload while your at your appointments. Good luck to you.
