Dreft....?

Have any of you started to do the babies laundry? I have some clothes that have been given to us by friends and I'm beginning to think about starting the baby laundry. Who here uses (or is planning to use) Dreft?

Is it really that much better to use for baby than the same detergent I use for hubby and me? I use All free and clear so there's no added fragrances or anything like that....

Just wondering what some of the others on here are doing....

Re: Dreft....?

  • We use Dreft, but this was a post the other day and most of the ladies use other Free and Clear detergents.  I think whatever you use is fine as long as it is F and C.

  • From what I've heard, as long as it's the free and clear stuff (Which almost every brand makes now) that it'll be ok for baby. I got the Tide kind to wash all my baby clothes. The ingredients and descriptions match the Dreft brand so I couldnt see the advantage of paying more

  • I'm using All free and clear b/c I bought it when it was on sale months ago. I like scent to my clothing - but DH has bad allergies (he got a wiff of the diapers last night and started coughing haha! Should be interesting when LO is here!). I'd prob. love dreft if it weren't so expensive and DH wouldn't get annoyed by the smell.

  • We use a free and clear All. I've heard bad things about dreft.

  • we used dreft with DS1 and a special gentle formula softener every now and then. Then we had DS2, and DH wanted to try our regular (Tide) - it was fine and didn't bother his skin at all! Unless DD has some sort of reaction to the Tide, I'm just going to stick with regular detergent. We'll have a  family of 5 - I don't have time to do that many separate loads! :)
  • I used Dreft for dd clothes. My DH Loves the smell and she had no problems with it.

I know that many woman say its expensive but since I only use a half a cup full, maybe every other day or every third day, its really not that bad. I buy the 64 oz dreft and I only have to buy it once every month or month and a half.

  • I'm using Era - if baby has a problem we will switch to Tide Free & Clear.
