Babies: 3 - 6 Months

4 month old going backwards in ounces!

DD was doing great and eating about 4-5 oz every 3 hours.  She's on Neocate because of her dairy protein allergy and Zantac for reflux.  Last Friday she got a tummy bug...threw up for a morning, did Pedialyte, then seemed 'ok'.  She then only was eating about 2/3 oz through that weekend which I thought was normal after a bug.  Well, almost a full week later, she is STILL only on 2-3 oz.  :( Her wet diapers are THERE but have decreased, she gags and sorta dry heaves if we try to give her more then 3.  ?  She is also teething like a madman and I think her reflux is bothering her since we were kind of off of the Zantac during her tummy bug.  She also started diarrhea on Sunday.  WOW.

It's hard not to worry.  Went in for a weigh-in today and to talk to our doctor.  We are upping Zantac in hopes of settling her tummy.  She has lost 2 ounces in weight.

I don't really have a question; more so a WORRIED MOM post.  I sure hope my DD get backs to normal soon.  It would be great if any of you have gone through something similar?  I think it's just a bad combo of many things...and I hope that it's just her tummy recovering.  WORRIED! :(

  • Oops...forgot to add some info...Tonight, during her bottle, she got down 4 (and I was so excited) but then did the gag/'I'm almost going to throw up' deal.  I just don't get it! Going to watch to see if the Zantac has any effect at all, then following up with pedi on Friday.  She's not dehydrated 'at all' our doc said...YET.  She's pretty much happy as a clam..just seems like she has some occasional tummy cramps and reflux issues.

:( Being a mom is so hard sometimes!  I HATE it when my kiddos are sick!

  • I was similarly concerned three weeks ago; the responses were helpful to me (link below).  Well, my LO made up for it in that time - after one month of little weight gain, at 5 mos she gained over 1 lb in the blink of an eye.

Seems to me you are taking steps in the right direction!

  • Sorry I don't have great advice but just wanted to say weight gain is my biggest concern and I totally feel for you! I'm stressing about going to my daughter's 4 month appointment b/c I'm scared she hasn't gained enough weight!!
