Of course napping is against my LO's religion. I'm trying my best to convert him. His longest time has been 45 minutes, but they are usually 30 minutes ONCE a day. Yes it sucks for both of us. After each napping fail, we go downstairs and I praise him for trying. He is too young for sleep training, but should I keep on trying to get him down every hour after the nap fail? My husband says "he's just not tired, let him be!" Yes, I follow sleep cues, we go to his bedroom with the sound machine and keep it quiet. He doesn't like sleeping in his swing anymore, either. I guess this frustrated Mommy needs some words of encouragement. Oh yea, he sleeps great at night. (Knock on wood)
Re: Yep..another nap question...
Thank you for your reply. I didn't think that I was a proponent of CIO, but I am rapidly changing my mind-this is getting rediculous
How long are you waiting before his first nap? Being overtired for that, then a bad nap could set the tone for the day. I have read that 45 minutes is normal, if he wakes rested and happy (DS did this for 3 months until recently) but I have heard 30 mins means overtired. I couldn't go on cues at that age, just by the clock b/c DS fought sleep so hard. Is there anything else that works other than the swing?
Well, I'm on the lookout for his sleep cues, and yawns start coming about two hours after he wakes up. He wakes up very happy, since he sleeps good at night. The only other thing that works is either the car or sleeping on me :-)
I think 2 hours may be too long at that age, try 1.5 hours and see what happens? Just from my personal experience with DS, other bumpies I have talked to, and what I have read. GL!
