OK to Wake Alarm

Does it REALLY work? Em has made it the habit of coming into our bed at about 1-2am. We have let it become the habit because we are too tired/lazy to get up and put her back in her bed. So now I am searching for ideas of how to get her to stay in her bed. I have been leaning towards this alarm clock but does it really work? Ideas?

Re: OK to Wake Alarm

  • We love the bunny clock and are about to upgrade to the new big kid version which helps them learn to tell time too!!

The light in the bottom  corner is on sleepy when they are supposed to be in bed and the awake kid is bright when they can get up. The clear hand on the face is the alarm/ time it's ok to get up and there is a small digital face under to help them with time.

  • Yes.  It's been a miracle worker with DS.  Now and then we get lax (travel, illness, etc.) but when we stay on it, he does great with it.  Lately I offer him some sort of treat at the end of the day if he waits until "green light time" to get up in the morning and after naps.  He doesn't always sleep that long, but he'll lay in his bed or look at books and generally will stay in bed without a struggle.

We'll be getting one for DD soon.

  • Yep!  It works like a charm for Luke.  We've had it since the summer and he's disregarded it maybe twice.  And the funny thing is he actually likes it.  He gives it "loves" and says "oh...bunny!" when he hugs it.  Smile
  • yes! it was a life changer for our house. we actually got the teach me time clock since it plugs in. and seriously, life.changing. DD was coming into our room at 3am to play. and it always seem to happen right after i'd finished feeding DS. it only took a couple days for her to understand it (she was 2.5 when we got it) and to this day every night she says "good night, i'll see you when my clock turns green." yes, it works!

  • We have the one that fjaril posted and we love it.  IT's been working pretty well too - DD will sometimes come into our room at 7:05 AM (we have it set at 7 to switch from night to day) telling us "I wanted to come in when I woke up but the little girl was still sleeping, but now she is awake so I could come in".

Plus, I like that it grows w/ the kid.  I was not keen on spending the money originally, but I figure she will use this for a few years - as she learns to tell time.  And eventually we will actually use the alarm function to wake her up on school days or something.
